L. Brent Bozell III (I say, Jeeves, we'll have our Port in the Drawing Room) is the red-bearded fop who launched Friday's Swift Boat-style attack on John Murtha from the pages of his Right wing smear sheet, Cybercast News Service.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/13/AR2006011301736.htmlBozell, who traded on his father's name to raise millions from Scaife and other right wing check writers to create his "Media Research Center" has, of course, never spent a day in the US military. Like the typical Bush- supporting Chickenhawk, Bozell sniped away at Murtha, a 31 year Marine Corps veteran, from a safe editorial distance.
However, his Chickenhawk credentials aside, Bozell apparently lacks the nerve to even be in the same room with anyone on the Progressive--now the majority-- side of the Iraq debate. The man is a Physical Coward. He recently wimped out and refused to appear on the same show as former CIA Officer Larry Johnston, an expert on Bush's bogus Iraq war intel. Larry wrote as follows:
http://www.tpmcafe.com/story/2005/11/28/18272/026Apparently, Mr. Bozell is a coward. He told MSNBC he would not appear if I was on the show, even if they scheduled me before or after him. He couldn't handle a man-to-man debate. Typical conservative coward. I think the term is "Girly Man". Tough talker when he is alone but unable to handle an informed debate. What is really sad is the MSNBC is caving into Bozell, rather than insisting that its audience hear both sides of an issue.

Moreover-- and this is really creepy-- Bozell appears to have an obsession with lying about the eight term Congressman:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200511230008Bozell twisted statements to claim Murtha has "been anti-war for years"
In his November 23 nationally syndicated column, Media Research Center president L. Brent Bozell III claimed that Rep. John P. Murtha (D-PA) has "been anti-war for years." Bozell, however, omitted key details from the examples he cited of Murtha's supposedly "anti-war" rhetoric that directly refute his claim. In fact, Murtha, who recently voiced support for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, was a staunch advocate of the Iraq war but also an outspoken critic of the Bush administration's handling of the conflict -- positions on two separate questions, which Bozell wrongly conflated.

That said, the man is utterly delusional. Check out this crybaby article by Bozell from the 2004 campaign where he asserts (I'm NOT making this up) that the Swift Boat Liars were "...completely ignored by the media":
http://mediamatters.org/items/200408190012On the August 18 edition of FOX News Channel's The O'Reilly Factor, L. Brent Bozell III -- founder and president of the conservative Media Research Center -- claimed that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth "were completely ignored by the media" after their May 4 press conference, "with the exception of FOX that covered and CBS that absolutely slammed them." In fact, as Media Matters for America noted at the time, the anti-Kerry group received substantial coverage on cable news on May 4.
When Bozell's fellow O'Reilly guest, Paul Waldman, editor of the progressive Internet magazine Gadflyer.com, noted that "a LexisNexis search produced over 500 newspaper and television stories about" the Swift Boat Veterans, Bozell insisted that this coverage started after the group announced in early August that it was planning to run an anti-Kerry television ad in three swing states. FOX News Channel host John Gibson, who was filling in for regular host Bill O'Reilly, agreed with Bozell.
But a Nexis search of print and TV sources for "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" produced 157 results for the three-month period between Swift Boat Veterans' May 4 press conference and the August 4 ad release. As MMFA noted on May 4, Swift Boat Veterans founder John E. O'Neill appeared on the April 20 edition of CNN's Wolf Blitzer Reports -- two weeks before the press conference. CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News all devoted significant coverage to the group's May 4 press conference, as MMFA noted.

As loony as this man is, keep in mind he is viewed by Rove as an indispensable cog in the Right wing sound machine; their Swift Boat Commander in this instance.
Caution: know Democracy's Enemies.
