Meet L. Brent Bozell III... the slimy coward who’s Swift Boating Murtha.
L. Brent Bozell III (I say, Jeeves, we'll have our Port in the Drawing Room) is the red-bearded fop who launched Friday's Swift Boat-style attack on John Murtha from the pages of his Right wing smear sheet, Cybercast News Service.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/13/AR2006011301736.html

Bozell, who traded on his father's name to raise millions from Scaife and other right wing check writers to create his "Media Research Center" has, of course, never spent a day in the US military. Like the typical Bush- supporting Chickenhawk, Bozell sniped away at Murtha, a 31 year Marine Corps veteran, from a safe editorial distance.

However, his Chickenhawk credentials aside, Bozell apparently lacks the nerve to even be in the same room with anyone on the Progressive--now the majority-- side of the Iraq debate.The man is a Physical Coward. He recently wimped out and refused to appear on the same show as former CIA Officer Larry Johnston, an expert on Bush's bogus Iraq war intel. Larry wrote as follows:

http://www.tpmcafe.com/story/2005/11/28/18272/026

Apparently, Mr. Bozell is a coward. He told MSNBC he would not appear if I was on the show, even if they scheduled me before or after him. He couldn't handle a man-to-man debate. Typical conservative coward. I think the term is "Girly Man". Tough talker when he is alone but unable to handle an informed debate. What is really sad is the MSNBC is caving into Bozell, rather than insisting that its audience hear both sides of an issue.
<snip>

Moreover-- and this is really creepy-- Bozell appears to have an obsession with lying about the eight term Congressman:

Bozell twisted statements to claim Murtha has "been anti-war for years"
In his November 23 nationally syndicated column, Media Research Center president L. Brent Bozell III claimed that Rep. John P. Murtha (D-PA) has "been anti-war for years." Bozell, however, omitted key details from the examples he cited of Murtha's supposedly "anti-war" rhetoric that directly refute his claim. In fact, Murtha, who recently voiced support for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, was a staunch advocate of the Iraq war but also an outspoken critic of the Bush administration's handling of the conflict -- positions on two separate questions, which Bozell wrongly conflated.
<snip>

That said, the man is utterly delusional. Check out this crybaby article by Bozell from the 2004 campaign where he asserts (I'm NOT making this up) that the Swift Boat Liars were "...completely ignored by the media":

http://mediamatters.org/items/200408190012

On the August 18 edition of FOX News Channel's The O'Reilly Factor, L. Brent Bozell III -- founder and president of the conservative Media Research Center -- claimed that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth "were completely ignored by the media" after their May 4 press conference, "with the exception of FOX that covered and CBS that absolutely slammed them." In fact, as Media Matters for America noted at the time, the anti-Kerry group received substantial coverage on cable news on May 4.

When Bozell's fellow O'Reilly guest, Paul Waldman, editor of the progressive Internet magazine Gadflyer.com, noted that "a LexisNexis search produced over 500 newspaper and television stories about" the Swift Boat Veterans, Bozell insisted that this coverage started after the group announced in early August that it was planning to run an anti-Kerry television ad in three swing states. FOX News Channel host John Gibson, who was filling in for regular host Bill O'Reilly, agreed with Bozell.

But a Nexis search of print and TV sources for "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" produced 157 results for the three-month period between Swift Boat Veterans' May 4 press conference and the August 4 ad release. As MMFA noted on May 4, Swift Boat Veterans founder John E. O'Neill appeared on the April 20 edition of CNN's Wolf Blitzer Reports -- two weeks before the press conference. CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News all devoted significant coverage to the group's May 4 press conference, as MMFA noted.
<snip>

As loony as this man is, keep in mind he is viewed by Rove as an indispensable cog in the Right wing sound machine; their Swift Boat Commander in this instance.

Caution: know Democracy's Enemies.

It amazes me how the crazy-wing of the republican party can pretend to support the military, and yet,
they have just devoured several of our greatest american heros. They are all liars & slackers. :freak:

Attacking Murtha is a real bad idea for the RW.

I suspect someone high up (Rove, Cheney) will put the kibosh on this particular attack.

13. This chickenhawk (how did we know he would be another cowardly
chickenhawk?) should now be called out by Murtha. Since he was too cowardly to appear on the same show as a blogger, imagine the great soundbites just waiting to be had, when he refuses to show up and blabber his vicious, slime directly to the man he has been paid to smear?

Murtha should now call a press conference. He should hold in his hand the filthy utterings of this slime, and demand that he arrange an appearance on a primetime show and speak these lies directly to Murtha himself, adding 'instead of hiding behind a computer screen, while he deposits the dirty money handed out by the rightwing smear machine, into his bank account'.

It's time to root out these rats from their holes. Challenge him to bring along his own record of what he has done for his country to compare to the record that Congressman Murtha will bring, proudly.

Certain that the cowardly little traitor and America-hater, will not show up, Murtha should use the time to say what he might say if there was a chance in hell that a rightwing brownshirt like this would have the guts to be in the same room with a hero like Murtha.

Murtha might ask why this rabid war-supporter is behind a computer screen instead of joining the troops, badly in need of REAL support, in Iraq? He should offer in the press conference to help him with the enlistment process.

No more ignoring these slimeballs. They MUST be brought out into the open and challenged to back up their chickenhawk lies and publicly shamed and exposed for the cowards they are.

Should such a confrontation ever take place in an open forum (not the dark corridors these slime like to hide in) I think we know who the public would believe. This is why they hide.

Meantime, since that's just a dream, get this man over to Iraq. His president needs him! Send him the necessary forms and I know there are literally thousands of Americans who would be willing to travel miles to take him to the nearest recruiting center.

These liars must not be allowed to get away with this anymore.

I remember the filty lies told by chickenhawk Ann Coulter about Max Cleland. There has been NO repercussions to these people. So they keep on spewing their hateful lies against veteran after veteran because WE LET THEM.

Sue him, challenge him, force him to be in the same room with those he lies about ~ and let the public see them for what they are. This piece of garbage is not fit to utter the name of the man he has chosen to lie about! They need to be on notice. This is not four years ago and people are no longer stunned into disbelief by their dirty tricks, because no decent person could believe back then that someone could behave this way.

That's not the case anymore. Their MO is well known and a rapid response designed to totally expose them and their funders should go into effect the minute they even think about a repeat of what went on during the election, so that the public understands that they are paid with dirty money to silence anyone who tells the truth.

Call him out Rep. Murtha, we know he won't have the guts to face a man of your stature. And if by some chance he is dragged out of his hidey hole, I have the utmost confidence that you will make mincemeat out of him in less than no time. But you know that, I'm sure and probably would rather spend your valuable time fighting for the country you love. But, imo, there comes a time when you have to shine the light on cockroaches. And I think that time is long past.

16. Didn't this guy show up on TV in a skirt when he was
battling some feminists?
Would that make him a "girly man" under the Governator's definition?
