Renouncing War

Never before have so many been so motivated to make known their revulsion to war and all who advocate it. Before and throughout the ferocious American assault on Iraq, millions of ordinary people have repeatedly assembled to promote peace and condemn state-organized torture and mass murder as totally unacceptable in this, the “Last Chance Century” to get together and get it right.
With climate change upon us, the oceans the this three-quarters saltwater world dying, and the oil essential to overheated economies about to become as scarce as safe drinking water, most people responding to polls inside an imploding Fortress America—and just about all of the remaining 95% of humanity outside its blinkered borders—want nothing more to do with the misery, lies, destruction and distraction of wars that hurt mostly children, while lethally contaminating entire regions for the digitized profits of a few.

Many despaired when Bush’s self-proclaimed “Crusade” proceeded to unleash the horrors they’d tried to prevent. But their outcry forced the fundamentalists in the White House to sharply scale back their “shock and awe” campaign, originally shilled by its architect as an urban bombardment capable of causing casualties similar to Hiroshima.
The warmongers were put on notice: We the people everywhere are fed up with your wars and will not participate in any way any longer. Your days are numbered. And this time, there will be no replacing your mindset or your minions.
