There will never be anything even remotely resembling victory, as if this was something to be won or lost. The word victory is totally inappropriate here, as are all the other words they twist.

The troops are never coming home, we will always be in Iraq and Afghanistan. The dead will keep piling up.

They see the projection of US power into the Middle East - however botched and bloody - as a "victory." Or at least, they're determined to view it that way, even though reality is crumbling the walls of their little fantasy.
