Sen. Grassley (R) Iowa, invalid support of Judge I-lied-o
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 02:22 PM by upi402
Grassley compared Alito's failure to keep his word in a deceptive manner.
Alito said he'd recuse himself from Vanguard Fund cases that may come before him. He didn't and he had cash in that game.

So Grassley said the Senate would be empty if they had to keep the promises they made.
But comparing Senators to appointed justices is as false as comparing apples and oranges.
A Senator is ELECTED and speaks to interest groups in order to raise cash to get elected.
But a justice is nominated (appointed) and needs to be honest, as opposed to having the need to raise cash.

And of course the TV news pointed this humiliating little bit out in their noble attempt to inform and nurture democracy.

TV news media traitors!

1. "They all do it" is a favorite RNC line. We will hear it a lot .

2. Waiting for a senator to say ...
"Now, if all the other elected representatives jumped off a bridge, would that mean YOU'D do it, too."

If all of these GOPer are going to act like children, maybe it's time to bring their Mommies in to read them the Riot Act.

3. Yeah- and the DLC Dems enable it
by selling everyone out, too.

That's one reason why the Dems have become irrelevant in national politics.

4. So the Democratic Party is "irrelevant"?
And exactly which parties are relevant then? Wait, don't tell me... The Green Party?

5. IMHO - The Democratic Party Needs An Overhaul
The party is in a pathetic condition - toothless and adrift because of the DLC poison!

6. If you look at the evidence

They've given Bush and the far right every single thing that they've asked for.

They haven't blocked one single nominee (no matter how extreme and unqualified they are) and they haven't manage to stop on single piece of major legislation- no matter how corrupt, egregious and counter productive it is- often with several members crossing party lines to do it.

THAT meets the definition of irrelevance in my book. For all the results they get, they might as well pack their bags and go home.
