DNA Clears Fla. Man In 1981 Rape, Robbery

TAMPA, Fla. -- A 45-year-old St. Petersburg man who has spent more than half his life in prison for armed robbery and rape will be freed, thanks to DNA technology.

Prosecutors in Tampa said Friday that DNA tests create significant doubt about his guilt.

The Hillsborough County State Attorneys Office said it will support a defense motion to vacate Alan Crotzer's 1982 convictions and 130-year prison sentence.

His attorneys say that the DNA evidence excludes him as the rapist and that a statement from a co-defendant further supports that Crotzer wasn't at the crime scene.

There was a story here a while go here on my local news about a story of this guy who was accused twenty something years ago for being accuse of rape and it was just recently found out that the girl lied. What if both of these people were killed with the death penalty? It should be abolished and banned from our country. It doesn't do anybody any good.
