Look at this opening paragraph in current NYTimes article....
NYTimes website:

Headline: Democrats See Wide Bush Stamp on Court System

~snip~WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 - Disheartened by the administration's success with the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr., Democratic leaders say that President Bush is putting an enduring conservative ideological imprint on the nation's judiciary, and that they see little hope of holding off the tide without winning back control of the Senate or the White House. ~snip~

Has the vote already happened and we were not informed???? WTF?

1. I guess they don't want to be accused ...
... of 'sitting on a story' again, so they're now launching pre-emptive news items ...

I HATE THE PRESS!

Why do they just assume that the Dems will fold on this one?

Is the fix in? Something I don't know behind the scenes?

How do they do that???

4. Nonetheless, the article is NOT reporting news as it's happened,
it is assuming and anticipating the future as a FACT. That is not news reporting.

Only because the Dems don't step out
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 04:57 PM by podnoi
The press just understands that the Dems are weak knee'd and won't get their act together.

The Alito confirmation IS a turning point. If they don't do eveerything in their power on this one they have failed their base. They need to at least try. How can it be acceptable for our party to allow this without a serious fight?

9. Surprise! NOT. Thanks for saving me the click.
The only good thing about Nagourney is he tells us what bushco wants us to think, which can be helpful at times. If you have a strong stomach that is..

13. I find it hard to believe the Times would print this drivel....then again.
You'd think they would at least wait for the FUCKING VOTE to declare a winner.

7. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news;
but this vote happened back in Nov. of '04..."To the victor goes the spoils"...the best we can do is to stall till fall and hope for the best. Even if Sam goes down , there's 20 more right wing crazies waiting in the wings.
