Freeper campaign
"Godless" barely had 3 stars and we were winning the reviewer war, then amazon.com slashed the reviews down to about 168 from over 800 then the "book" had 4 stars. The freepers must have whined to amazon.com enough to get some action, but a search of freeperville found nothing except for old "contact amazon" campaigns.

How are they doing it?

1. Because Amazon is a red company?
Or maybe because thousands of people like me can't be bothered?

2. They're not the only ones
I would start with Crown Publishing, their whining would carry the loudest.

3. They probably don't have to.
For a 'bestseller' like this, Amazon are probably getting a nice hefty cut of the the proceeds, so it's in their interests to promote the book hard. I'd imagine the gerrymandering was done by a business manager rather than a wingnut. Of course he/she could be a wingnut business manager. :)

5. Another good point
And Godless is only #8 at Barnes and Noble dot com, right under UltraMetabolism: The Simple Plan for Automatic Weight Loss.

7. No perfidy is necessary to explain it
Godless has four stars simply because lots of wingnuts are "Freeping" the rating system. They consider this to be important enough to waste time on.

You'll always see this on Amazon with any topic that generates more heat than light. If the responses are strongly divided and the book gets more stars than the sales would indicate, it's a heat-producer.

Heck, it's kept Ann Coulter in expensive wine and imported cigarettes for the past decade.

13. If they want to waste their time promoting that worthless bitch.
Fuck 'em. Only "people" who agree with Coulter are going to buy her book anyway.

10. let them "erase" the reviews
just a pacification technique for poor mAnn.

Just go back and pick all of the 4 & 5 star reviews and click on no for is this review helpful?

11. Re:
I would have written a review for Amazon, but frankly, I really don't care about Ann Coulter and her opinion about me and my party enough to give her the time of day. She's not worth my time or my outrage.

12. True
That is why Amazon deleted the "reviews". I wonder how many people really read her book.

I wouldn't read anything that was published by her.

15. Coulter
You should be concerned about her. Do you really think this is all her work? She is almost certainly doing this garbage with the consent and help of the rethug leadership.

17. Re:
Yeah, but I'd rather let her hate speak for itself.

Her mind's made up; nothing I say is going to shut her up. As I've been saying, she hopes that people will respond to her. It justifies everything she says. By denying her the pleasure of responding to her vitriol, I'm wounding her much more than any insult or bad review ever will.

Also, if the Democratic party is truly the more moral party - and I believe that we are, considering what the * regime and other national Republicans have done - then our platform will speak for itself. Most Americans will see us as the people who can truly protect America. Only the extreme RWers will agree with Coulter's views.

As for Coulter receiving help from Republican leadership, I'm not completely convinced that that's true - no offense. * certainly has made me fairly cynical, but I don't think that I'm quite that cynical yet. For now, at least, she seems to be a loose cannon who's projecting her own qualities on liberals and Democrats.

14. what you need to do is go and "alert" on certain reviews
any review that does not contain info only about the book and is used to verbally attack anyone is (imho) inappropriate, and I just do an alert.

18. Why don't some of you go to the DNC meetup this month?
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 04:45 PM by LoZoccolo
Really. You'll find ways to make more of an impact than fighting a war with the far-right over book reviews that are probably almost all transparently biased.
