What should the UN do about Iran?
Do they have an obligation to act regarding Iran's reinstallment of nuclear enrichment and development? What should their course of action be?

1. The U.N. will have to act tough.
They risk a lot of credibility depending upon how this goes down. A defining moment.

17. They should stop acting all together...
if they're not going to fulfill the mandate of their charter then what good are they? Bush can start a war using their resolutions as a justification and they do nothing. It was my understanding that the U.N. was created to stop this. Obviously, I misunderstood.

23. Absolutely correct
The UN is the only alternative to US unilateralism. If it can't keep the peace and prevent nuclear proliferation, then the world is going to be a much uglier place.

27. But what can they do, since Iran is NPT-compliant.
The IAEA has found no evidence whatsoever that Iran is conducting nuclear weapons research. So Iran is following the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty and even went further with additional voluntary measures for 18 months, sealing its uranium research facilities, when the NPT did not require it to.

What on earth can the UN do to a country that is scrupilously following the law?

2. Well - Australia could pony up seeing as how they are involved in
the war on terror and cut off the supply of lamb. Iran, country of 75 Million - doesn't grow its own meat.

But that would force Karl Rove to choose between his Australian base of farmers or world peace.

OH NO! - we are in deep ****

3. We cant do much
This is why we should have never invaded Iraq in the first place because now Iran can do whatever it wants...Are troops are in Iraq and could not fight both countries at once without a draft. I mean it might be feasible if all those "college republicans" inlist to fight.

4. The UN, not the US
What should the UN do about Iran? The fact that our troops are in Iraq doesn't prevent the UN from acting vis a vis Iran.

If thats the case, then why can't the UN take over the patrols in Iraq. Why should our men and women risk their lives in this case?

6. I'm watching the president right now
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad...check him out...how close is this...
He's the iranian version of Bush

Crosseyed braindead.
He's even got the same freekin inflections of self-proclaimed stupidity.

Iran is sitting on mega quantities of oil...and China wants it.
We aren't doing anything against Iran.
The UN won't accomplish anything either.

Let them develop a nuke...or perhaps a few nukes.
The instability in the region stems from Israel's holding 100+ nukes with their "we'll respond 100 to 1" against anyone who nukes us...

It's mindless crap.
The UN...
And the US....
Principally the US should step in and figure out how to control the freekin nukes in Israel.

Read that last sentence 10O times...at 99 font.

Funny...

We seem to understand the cold war between the US and the Soviet Union....but somehow, someway...

we're out to lunch...

when it comes to Israel holding the "nuclear trump card"....

in the Middle East.

Control the nukes in Israel....

Eliminate the right wingers who are nuclear paranoid (Reaganites et al)....and the world will breathe a huge sigh of relief.

13. Absolutely NOTHING - they have no right nor reason to do ANYTHING.
Iran has every right to develop nuclear technology, in my opinion even weapons when faced with the worlds largest nuclear arsenal. The day the US scraps all its nuclear weapons is the day I will agree that Iran should not have them either.

In any case, there is no proof that Iran is or has been trying to create nuclear weapons, and I sure as hell don't believe ANYTHING the US might say about it after over a decade of lies about Iraq.

14. Give Iran a serious reason to stop uranium enrichment research.
Incentives rather than threats. And Guaranteed security. (That's all N Korea is asking from - a guarantee that it the US will not attack it.) So far Iran has been offered airplane parts, maybe WTO support and the opportunity to depend on Russia for their uranium.

The first two indicate a clear lack of seriousness on the part of the EU-3 and US. And who would depend on a single source like Russia for something so important? Russia and Iran may be economic partners but they aren't that cozy. Gemany is Iran's biggest supplier and look what they're doing to Iran now.

I once read an el-Baradei interview where he proposed that ALL uranium enrichment for ALL countries be done by a coalition of countries with all countries subject to checks by the IAEA and a ban for non-compliance. It's sort of explained here:

ELBARADEI: I argue that for every country to have an independent fuel cycle is the wrong way to go. Because any country which has a complete fuel cycle is a latent nuclear weapons country, in the sense that it is not far from making a nuclear weapon. What I propose is to give countries that need nuclear energy for peaceful purposes both the reactors and the necessary technology, but to have the fuel cycles controlled through international entities to make sure that the spent fuel is removed .

The US is the ONLY country to have ever used nuclear

Why have sanctions not been applied to us?

Oh, never mind, I forget that we are above the rule of law.
Next question?

19. Can someone explain what they have done wrong since they comply with
IAEA?

It seems like Bush is piling on extra demands on them like he did with Iraq so it will look like they aren't complying, even if they inadvertently do so.

It's not even registering with most people.

I think if they try to do a motivational terrorist attack to sell it, it will either backfire or give them a limited to no bounce in public approval.

22. What should the UN do about the US and the neocons?
Iran is not the country issueing threats of invasion. Iran is not the country that has already ignored the UN and shattered a country that never threatened it.

Iran, had this president not started threatening it, was becoming more moderate.

The only country that has actually demonstrated they are threat over there is the US.

If killing tens of thousands of people, using white phospherous on a city, raiding the country's resources, torturing its people doesn't warrant the UN interfering, why on earth should they interfere with the next country on the list of the neocons?

Imo, if the UN interferes at all, it should be to sanction the US and to warn it to stop threatening countries in the region.

25. Military Industrial CIA Cabal's "Project Armageddon" is going perfectly!
Through then-Senator Lyndon (stupid-as-Truman) Johnson's totally unconstitutional 1948 Defense Reorganization Act (USC 50), creating the legal abomination of a 'finding-crime', and a bound-to-secrecy elite handpicked congressional committee of secret noble warlords to support an unconstitutional, noble, secret, blank-check-of-marquee MI6-KGB secret mafia foreign vice organization of imperial back room military industrial dictatorship firmly placed in secret, total and absolute control of America. USC 50 really marked America's final surrender to British Imperial Fascism and the complete death of Republican Liberty and also the complete surrender of our beloved Freedom to Compete Free Market System to the old regime of Noble Colonial Mercantile Cabalism. (a distinctly different type of Capitalism well known to our famed forefathers.)
"while we give no encouragement to the importation of foreign vices, we ought to be equally as careful not to create any. A vice begotten might be worse than a vice imported. The latter, depending on favor, would be a sycophant; the other, by pride of birth, would be a tyrant: To the one we should be dupes, to the other - slaves" Thomas Paine, warning us of the entrapping criminal corruption and tyranny of a foreseen Imperial Cold War Cabal either as a SS/MI6/KGB Mafia import, or worse as a home-grown "CIA" Military-Industrial Mafia. - Pennsylvania Magazine - 1775

In short, if our nation had no real enemies beyond a little pacification, it would be Job #1 at your CIA Mafia Fear Cabal to manufacture us some, and that is indeed precisely and exactly what it has always done for itself in spades!

Our unconstitutional blank-check-of-marquee CIA/NSA/DIA Mafias, in close cooperation with the pliable political hordes of Mullah Robertson's radical, conservative neo-Christian fascists, our unconstitutional no-standing-army Pentagon and the lucrative sponsorship of the Noble Tory Cabals of Halliburton, Boeing and Laugheed-Martin have quite predictably, effectively, and at great expense to taxpayers, finally manufactured themselves this shiny new and improved, deluxe, borderless, automatic self-dirtying, multinational Muslim Menace!

True, the undemocratic, unrepresentative, bullies, puppets, nice guys and tyrants club that forms the UN, and Tory Fascist Britain (Churchill was Mussolini's greatest and most loyal pre-war Fascist admirer) was scarcely capable of defining or mandating any form of government as a standard of decency, and much less qualified to be stealing territories to establish religious-fascist empires on other peoples lands. They not only ignored the universal, justifiable outrage and opposition of even the moderate Muslim and secular World to the specter of the impending theft of the populated, sensitive sacred City-State of Jerusalem by the victims of Hitler's Christian Fascist tyranny, they were also grossly negligent or unable to mandate a mutually agreeable, secular system of common laws to protect all the occupants of the region from the inevitable quagmire of competing religious fascist tyrannies. The Soviets were particularly delighted that America was being ensnared into this Anglican planned religious fascist foreign policy nightmare.

True, the unconstitutional 1953 MI6-CIA's overthrow of the first freely elected democratic government in the Middle East, that of Iranian Prime Minister Mossadegh (Time Man of the Year), in order to impose the hated Shaw Warlord's imperial tyranny to protect the mafia oil territory of the Tory-Fascist British Petroleum Cabal was a pretty rotten deal. But after all, who'd ever want a stinking democracy that worked *gasp* representing them??

Sure, while democracy was still rearing it's ugly little head in Iran, British America's new Imperial MI6-CIA Tory Cabal got their noble British Lordsters to hack off the BP monopoly the oiliest riverfront chunk of Iraq's Basra province, haul some greasy local warlord out of a tent, polish up some sword in the stone fairytale and thus, after these 20 or so guy's well documented centuries long, uneventful struggle for independence, grant and recognize the The Great, Proud, Culturally Distinctive, Well-Populated, Independent, Imperial oilfield-town-nation of "Kuwait"! But alas, this British Duchy's newly minted Procuratorship was just "bad Shaw" insurance, and once again, since most Iraqi's were indistinguishable from Shiite Iranians, you'd just naturally want as few of them as possible trying to cash in on Her Tory Fascist Fuhrer-ship's oilfields. Besides, even if democracy were to break out there, more oil wells than voters makes a heck of a "corruption-free" party system...

Sure, in spite of the supposedly-free world's nasty experience with Hitler's neo-conservative Christian Fascist Nazi Germany, British America's 007 propagandized, MI6-CIA Mafia spawned fear of the "godless" union-run Soviet Empire of those legendary Red Menaces made it easy to ignore the selfsame Christian Fascism of our new elite, noble, secret British Warlords, and the inherent establishment of dogmatic socialist tyranny intrinsic to all forms of populist religious fascisms. Perhaps this final rendition of years of Hitler's most famous stump speech sound bite might ring a bell here:
"Today Christians rule Germany! I pledge that I never will tie myself to parties who want to destroy Christianity .. We want to fill our culture again with the true Christian spirit ... We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press - in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess..." - *The Speeches of Adolph Hitler, 1922-1939, Vol. 1

Indeed, what an honest speech! Herr Limp-Bow (may his chains rest lightly), Mullahs Robertson and Falwell and Little Prince Georgie would be honored to paraphrase it, but unfortunately plagiarism seems the more appropriate charge! Surely it has been none other than the new British American Empire who have actively supported and promoted the establishment of the abominable expansion of what has been crafted as Jewish-Fascist state in Palestine. Now don't write me off as anti-Semitic in any way! (Semites are racially Arab - dummies) but these Neo-Christian Fascists have been actively engineering a second holocaust Armageddon Battle for Jews in Israel by ignoring over 70 UN Security Council Resolutions imploring that nation to become a responsible Republic of Liberty and to cease and desist from their undeniable urge to steal the Holy City of Jerusalem and environs from the Muslim and Christian worlds for solely Jewish religious fascist purposes.

Sure, it was the CIA-Christian Fascist neo-Tory regime of Reagan-Bush that supplied WMDs:
"I am strongly in favor of using poisoned gas against uncivilized tribes. The moral effect should be good... and it would spread a lively terror" - Winston Churchill
Revolts by the Kurds from 1925 onward were always ruthlessly quelled. In 1937–38 aerial bombardment, poison gas, and artillery shelling of Kurdish strongholds by Britain and Turkey resulted in the slaughter of many hundreds of thousands of Kurds. A Kurdish Republic above Iran sponsored by the Soviet Union briefly existed after WWII but they gave up and the CIA Neo-Tory Christian Fascist Reagan Bush regime's pet 1980's hobby was helping Saddam do in those "Commie Kurds" a la Churchill for them in his spare time...

and Billions in cash to Saddam Hussein to punish the re-democratized Iran with a million death war, while using criminal DEA drug profits to finance and supply the Iranian hostage holders with spare American military parts to dispose of a few million extra Iraqi lives in the treasonous GOP arms for hostages 'non-finding' CIA Mafia crimes.
1980, Mansur Rafizadeh is a former chief of Savak: "Stansfield Turner asked me to get in touch with a powerful source inside of Iran, so I took the liberty, .... I demand, 'American government wants the hostages to be released, that's the 1st step.' The answer came back: 'You are wrong. American government doesn't want the hostages to be released, or possibly there's a government inside of the government, or they're lying to us, or they're lying to you. That's not the demand. What else do they want?'"

But hey, they just wanted to guarantee themselves that those miserable hostages would be held by the Iranians until long after Carter could claim any credit in January, to criminally trade cheap American lives for their cheap October Surprise election-fixing CIA Politburo corruption scam.

But Times Have Changed!

The CIA Reagan Bush Military Industrial mafia Regime eagerly supplied Billions of dollars, tons of equipment (Manpad Stinger launchers customized to work with cheap Chinese missiles) and thousands of trainers to groom motivate and establish Iran a like minded religious fascist Shiite Al Queda Mafia that would "fight for your God, your God will protect you" with the latest and best CIA Terrorist techniques. So great was their largess, that the profits Pakistanis were making supplying the Mujihadeen with penny-knockoffs of Soviet weapons were more than enough to allow that starving nation the funding it needed to manufacture itself a Muslim Nuclear arsenal! Now in that case, the CIA Mafia merely overthrew yet another elected democracy in the Muslim world and installed a transparently unpopular CIA puppet tyrant named Moshareef who's sole job seems to be guarding the keys to that truck. It should be much easier for Iran to knock out that tottering tyrant, much cheaper than homegrown nukes too!

Meanwhile, after the Halliburton/Brent Scowcroft slant drilling oil theft project fell through for their Kuwaiti Procurator, British Tory America, with unending, indiscriminate aerial bombardments and sanctions over years, has been dutifully murdering hundreds of thousands of mostly secular Sunni Iraqi's, culminating in the Al Quada wet dream of this 30,000 murder invasion and occupation to chase one dude into a hole and establish a friendly Democratic Iranian Shiite religious fascist government across the border from Iran for them!

British American Mullahs Falwell, Robertson and Baker insist that only a nuclear battle at Megiddo (and a new temple in Jerusalem) in the heart of Israel is the Final Solution planned by the old man God and his dear pet Satan that they worship, and nothing short of the second extermination of the Jewish people by that means will ever bring them the Jewish Neo-Christ that they are tired of brokering the dictates of, down to earth to speak for Himself (watch out Pat). If we are to allow these evil-worshiping maniacs to pervert our superpower to conjure-up a Final Judgment Show like the Daniel Chapter 8 Show they undoubtedly co-planned, aided and abetted for 9-11, we shall certainly find ourselves in the cross hairs of one very upset transcendental Rabbi...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but if it is, then start down the street in Virginia! Seems like Laura Bush was quite right in thinking the Middle East Problem was 'somewhere in Virginia'!

God == Love == Gravity! It's perfect beauty is the proof of this 5th dimension of space-time, the universe-shaping embodiment and productivity of attraction both at a distance and at none, not some evil, bloodthirsty Hell-owning Arse with a pet named Satan! Hate is merely a parasitic phenomenon like that which condemned Christ's explanations of the supreme deity of Love as a heresy. Hatred should scarcely even exist where it not for proselytizers who manufacture brokerable 'religious fascist dogmas' to deify themselves and impose tyranny on the uninformed.
