I dunno, seemed to me that the thread was implying the name was racist, offensive, and shouldn't be allowed, without providing any context as to its history. I'm hard pressed to find where in your OP you mentioned you liked it and it was ok.

I guess then too it is kind of like faith and religion and beliefs. Someone is offended, or thinks something should be offensive, and imposes their belief/morals on a broader scale.

When is most anything 'wrong'? I suppose generally something is wrong when we see it as conflicting with a moral we have developed. And whose morals are better than others??

I dunno, just something to ponder.

7. I am quite famliar with it

was a big deal a year or two ago, in fact if I am not mistaken there were threads on it here as well (I read here a long time before joining).

I was talking in general though in addressing the question by the OP. I am not generally offended by much :) they could name a team Straight Story sucks big donkey dongs and I would not care. On the other hand, if enough people are upset about it and they ask for a change and is not changed, then they can boycott, et al and pressure em to change. And I am fine with that too. I just have a lot more to worry about in life than a name of a football/sports team.

The time and effort/money spent fighting something like a name could be better spent on helping others - not being judgemental of others just saying I would rather spend my free time at a retirement home helping folks than fighting to change a name. What others do is their business and morals, I make my choices and they theirs. More power to em.
