How To Shut Them Up In One Sentence
"You will say and do anything to impose your will on others."

The freepers and fundies do this with everything. If they won't deal in facts, why should you? If they make it personal, why shouldn't you? Don't talk about abortion, or gays, or any other wedge issue with them unless you like the feeling of driving a spike in your own head. It's useless. Sociopaths will say and do anything to impose their will on others.

Call 'em out.

Fundie: "Abortionists should be jailed! Gays are an abomination of God!"
You: "You'll say and do anything to impose your will on others."
Fundie: This is GOD's will!
You: You'll say anything...

or

Freeper: New Deal commies! All you LIE-brals want iz a welfar hand out !!!1111
You: You'll say and do anything to impose your will on others, won't you.
Freeper:

even when it doesn't relate to what they're talking about, say it anyways. Make it personal. Make it hurt.

That is all.

3. Kicking the ice cubes might be pretty effective.
I kind of hate to say that but verbal strategies don't seem to have much effect.

12. And yet...
And yet we can't force them onto anti-psychotic medications... (or electroshock therapy)... 'tis a shame since it might help (and it might be their only hope of ever getting in touch with reality, if only briefly).

8. Well, generally if you repeat anything over and over to someone you are
arguing with...they'll get tired of it and give up.

You could just as easily repeat "The Giants win the pennant!" over and over until they just stared at you like you were crazy and walked away.

If you're looking for a sure-fire argument winner, however, "You will say and do anything to impose your will on others" isn't the one. It's just another charge they can deny.

9. I agree, but I'll add a suggestion to the "welfare" cop-out.
"All you want is a welfare handout."

"No, I don't, and I want the government to stop subsidizing Big Agricultural because I'd rather pay 10 percent more for food. Same goes for airlines and car manufacturers. Corporate welfare has got to stop!" (Apply with heavy dose of sarcasm.)

10. Tell 'em of how walmart, microsoft, mcdonalds, etc, get corp welfare...
Not just big ag.

Especially if these fools are libertarians who think these companies are oh-so-great. Especially the first two; their predatory styles are well known, and I don't care how philanthropic you become, how you get to the point that enables you TO be philanthropic is just as important. Gates is no better than a jackal, leech, or vulture. Period. (he ditched the dollar a year ago and then slammed it. "The ol' dollar, she's goin' down." (google it, the bloomberg news site will be the first one that appears.) Gates' actions are hardly actions of a patriotic person.

20. It's too bad many of them are inside the surveillance ops
Aug 4 1997 article in Time Magazine 'Kingdom Come' by D. Van Biema, p.52, shows that the FBI and CIA have Mormon recruitment programs. With an conservative mindset in the 'security' business from day one, and with the CIA's original leadership cadre being made up of Knights of Malta (a fiercely loyal Catholic group--Wm. Donovan, James Jesus Angleton, Wm. Casey, Wm. Colby, John McCone, Reinhard Gehlen, by way of Op Paperclip) you get the picture.

Even the recent spy case of Robert Hanssen in the FBI reveals his Opus Dei tie.

They can then investigate anyone THEY CHOOSE and get away with it now that TIA is offshored to the Bahamas with Global Information Group Ltd., run by Ben H. Bell III. With the 'background check' industry they can abuse data and make sure you never work again. Plus, Ollie North's old Rex84 suspend the constitution project, along with Operation Garden Plot and Operation Cable Splicer, they can arange for the dissident campgrounds nearest to you be set in motion faster now that Samuel Alito, who worked in the Office of Legal Counsel to the White House--issuing legal opinions on projects such as those-- is about to be confirmed.

What choices do those who wish to express dissent legitimately have nowadays without ending up on a list somewhere ?

It's the essence of this whole allegedly-moral majority's crusade against an ever growing list of people who offend them. They've forgotten that minding ones own business was also a mainstream American value. It's short, sweet, and will give them something to think about.
