McCain - "Our Election Commission is corrupt"
Not many details, Schiffer changed the topic even though McCain seemed to want to talk about it. He said that McCain-Feingold is not being implemented correctly.

Ummm... DUH!

1. Well, well, well....
We certainly had some sniffs of this. The first biggie for me was when the EAC threatened a deep "fishing expedition" investigation (Monica comes to mind) of CA Sec of State Kevin Shelley, who had sued Diebold and decertified the worst of their election theft machines prior to the 2004 election. It was that threat that caused Shelley to resign, although he was innocent of wrongdoing. He had no personal money (tells you something about Shelley) and no legal fund to defend himself with. In fact, he was one of the few honest election officials in the entire country. The campaign against him was led by pro-Diebold Connie McCormack, head of elections in Los Angeles (and a Dem)(!), and was one of the foulest and most uncalled for assaults on any public official that I have seen in Calif since the rightwing campaign against Chief Justice Rose Byrd (over capital punishment). Anyway, it was the EAC who put the final screws to Shelley--who had been duly elected by the people of California in 2002, and had been doing a truly great job of trying to protect election integrity.

Then, his replacement, Schwarzenegger appointee Bruce McPherson, under terrific grass roots pressure, and thereby unable to RE-certify Diebold touchscreens (the ones Shelley had decertified), bumped the matter up to the EAC, which uses PRIVATE consulting firms from the electronic voting industry to certify electronic voting systems.

And now we have, of all people, John McCain, calling the EAC corrupt. Will wonders never cease! Funny, how all the pols (EXCEPT Kevin Shelley) waited until George Bush and Dick Cheney were assured four more years of spying, looting, torture and murder, to raise any objections to Bushite corporations counting all our votes with 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, and virtually no audit/recount controls. A whole bunch of pockets have been lined on this one.

------------------

Throw Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW!

Best tribute we could give to Martin Luther King!

7. Because Republicans hate it
And considered it a betrayal of conservative free market principles. He knows this, why won't he say it.

8. New FEC Head is From Bush Campaign in Texas
Yes, I believe the newly-appointed head of the Federal Election Commission is a George Bush campaign worker and Texas crony (how shocking); can't remember the name at the moment. This person will be the "objective judge" on matters of election, campaign finance, corporate influence, etc. law.
