Trent Lott: "How else are we going to get at these leaders of al-Qaeda?"
Edited on Sun Jan-15-06 11:15 AM by Hissyspit
ON CNN Late Edition.

Evan Bayh backs him up: "What else are we supposed to do?"

Easy to kill innocent people from the safety of a comfortable D.C. TV studio, isn't it?

2. McCain had the same spin on FTN - real ugly American stuff
Basically, McCain said that we are sorry for your loss, but hey, we were after al ciada and that's our priority and too bad, so sad, and he would remind the Pakistanis that we are giving them aid for their earthquake.

8. Do you get the impression that they realize this is a PR nightmare for
them? They already wasted their capital on Iraq, and now that they're going after the real target, bin Laden, there's no room for failure because everybody is fed up with us.

10. Yes, I am surprised that there is no attempt to express
sympathy and just say "we are looking into it" and let it go like they have done so many times before. This time it seems hostile, like how dare they catch us making a mistake. How dare they say anything. Kind of like their increasing attitude toward American citizens.

5. Trent Lott, you moron. How do you think people get recruited into
Al Qaeda? You continue to shoot innocent civilians and they have no other choice but to take up arms against you. We would do the same, except that we are a super-nation and with all our military might, we can't seem to get the kind of information we need to identify the enemy and perform a strategic strike.

But I guess there's more money to be had by blowing up $60,000 missiles, than to actually rely on diplomatic methods.

7. He seems to have forgotten Afghanistan:
that other place that harbored the same terrorists not so long ago...

Buzzing a village with a predator drone doesn't quite cut the mustard when you look at the effort put into the Afghan and Iraq campaigns.

9. the answer, the obvious. not this way. didnt get them
they killed innocent people. they did not get al-qaeda

how are we going to get them;
if we dont shoot first, ask later (man in plane)
if we dont wire tap them. thoses non warrant spying werent on terrorists. why warrantless
if we dont lie the american people into invading a country. wtf????
if we dont have sneak and peeks in americans homes
if we dont give all our treasury to the rich
if we dont throw away our money in corruption in iraq, creating debt
if we dont break geneva AND TORTURE to get info. (known false info thru torture, they dont get)
if we dont take all rights away from american people
if we dont out a cia operative investigating wmd's
if we dont steal elections
if we dont spread the word of god
if we dont make the american people into a nation of sheep and cowards out of fear. keep your eyes down.

all of this in the question how do we get al-qaeda. all of these proven failure (bush lifetime motto) in getting alqaeda

12. Turning to violence guarantees the failure of imagination
It's not just hippy-dippy peacenik stuff (though I will wear the label proudly) that says that violence is a failure of diplomacy and imagination, unworthy of us. We have it right here, in the starkest terms, from the men who would be our leaders. "What else can we do?" they wail as another couple dozen souls are blown to Kingdom Come in an instant by remote control.

Relationship is risk. You might have to compromise, or worse yet, acknowledge error. Living in right relationship with the other people of the world means putting down the tools of violence and ignorance, and working cooperatively for a better, shared future. Real he-men can't be seen doing that; it makes you look "weak" to negotiate. Parley is for pussies.

Actually, it takes real guts to put down the gun and forswear the bomb. It means you believe in your ideals of truth, justice, freedom and liberty so much that you'll take the chance that your adversary will kill you. Any two-bit punk can pull a trigger or push a button and drop a bomb. It takes real convictions, real courage to say to your adversary that you will adhere to your ideals even to death. No one shows greater love than when he or she is willing to lay down life itself. That's from the Bible, Trent. And John. And Evan. Maybe you boys could brush up on it sometime?

17. I doubt there ARE any Al Qaeda. I bet any AlQaeda are in the employ of
Neocons for their PNAC adventure. How do you get at the leaders? Arrest the leaders of PNAC...Dick Cheney, Bush, yourself, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Laura, Rice, Powell, etc., etc.,
