New Version of Patriot Act goes futher to criminalize dissent
I just heard about this on AAR this morning...Sheesh, I'm a criminal.

Bush wants to create the new criminal of "disruptor" who can be jailed for the crime of "disruptive behavior." A "little-noticed provision" in the latest version of the Patriot Act will empower Secret Service to charge protesters with a new crime of "disrupting major events including political conventions and the Olympics." Secret Service would also be empowered to charge persons with "breaching security" and to charge for "entering a restricted area" which is "where the President or other person protected by the Secret Service is or will be temporarily visiting." In short, be sure to stay in those wired, fenced containments or free speech zones.

Who is the "disruptor"? Bush Team history tells us the disruptor is an American citizen with the audacity to attend Bush events wearing a T-shirt that criticizes Bush; or a member of civil rights, environmental, anti-war or counter-recruiting groups who protest Bush policies; or a person who invades Bush's bubble by criticizing his policies. A disruptor is also a person who interferes in someone else's activity, such as interrupting Bush when he is speaking at a press conference or during an interview.

What are the parameters of the crime of "disruptive behavior"? The dictionary defines "disruptive" as "characterized by unrest or disorder or insubordination." The American Medical Association defines disruptive behavior as a "style of interaction" with people that interferes with patient care, and can include behavior such as "foul language; rude, loud or offensive comments; and intimidation of patients and family members."

What are the rules of engagement for "disruptors"? Some Bush Team history of their treatment of disruptors provide some clues on how this administration will treat disruptors in the future.

They are TRAITORS for trampling on our first amendment rights, free speech, and killing our Democracy in their attempt to establish their theo-fascist dictatorship regime. THEY are the disruptors! Hypocrites!

4. I wonder what a "free speech containment zone" will look like
We'll probably be herded into an area enclosed by barbed wire and surrounded by armed guards.

14. I'm right there with you OneBlueSky - squashing dissent is...
...just one of the many steps to tyranny. Alex Jones has been warning us for the last 10 years that this was where the country was headed. I just hope most wake up before it's too late.

8. SO TAKE TO THE STREETS NOW!
And protest this before it's too late - especially let the forteign press know what's going on!
With this provision full-blown fascism will certainly have finally arrived. Combine this with the new law wher you can be punished if you "annoy" somebody via the internet - and any kind of protest will be criminal.

9. so what
do we actually do? Write complaining, breast-beating comments? Like I am doing right now? Like all the others I see.

The Patriot Crap -- will be --- the end of the Republic. So whattaya gonna do?

Anyway, if it appears that no non-violent strategy will work to save the Republic - and this appears to be the case - whattaya gonna do? Will we all just 'settle down' and promise to be good 'worker bees' for the coporatist elites. Will we offer up our children for war grinder world empire? Will we meekly go to the camps?...... where folks who have a dissident background will be sent (no need to keep them around 'cause they might get uppity again). Will we merely become the meek, the hiding or expatriots (with no where to run)?

So......if you believe just half of what is discussed here on DU (and I believe way more than half)...... whattaya gonna do?

11. So we protest in numbers so large that this becomes
impossible to enforce. Everybody's got to get some skin in this game.

13. I've been thinking about this for a long time... since a few months ago
when Malloy carried a story about a new "crowd control weapon" that was being tested out in Iraq. Crowd control has not been a problem in Iraq so he suggested, and I agreed, that the neocon thugs were getting ready for us all to take to the streets. The way I see it, Alito get in, we start bombing Iran, then institute a draft and we all protest. I'm afraid these bastards are gonna be ready to deal with it...

15. That crowd control weapons wasn't just tested in Iraq, try New Orleans...
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4857417

New Orleans was a perfect training op for the latest technology and tactics of disarming, dismantling communications, surrounding, and controlling an American population. At the same time, it was a major PsyOps excercise in confusing the media and American public - remember all those "reports" about how much chaos/mayhem was going on at the Superdome and the Convention Center? It turned out to be a complete fabrication. It wasn't true.

Where do you think that misinformation came from, the ether? Nope. A Military Intelligence Psychological Operations unit spread that information to help legitimize martial law, the disarming of citizens, and a fueled the public's demand that the Federal Government take control over the situation. It also allowed a cover story for any "incidents" that may occur like soldiers killing citizens, kicking them out of their homes, etc....

It also became the justification for armed Mexican military troops to come onto US Soil for the first time since 1846:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,168778,00.html

Bet you never heard of that before, have you? It is just one step in a larger plan to eventually allow Canadian, Mexican and other EU troops to patrol American cities once Martial Law is declared. The reason for this is that US Troops would suffer from low morale in that kind of mission. Read about it yourself:

do what the heck ever he wants??!! He follows the law when he selectively chooses and has no valid checks and balances apply to his administration.

21. K&R!!!
This is so-o very important! I've been on DU for a couple of hours this a.m. Re-watched Farenheit 911 last night. I think impeachment can't come soon enough!! but..once again, when are the masses going to wake up??? Then we have the NSA spying thing. If the "government" can "watch" what we do and say, via satelites (sp?) what WILL we do? How will we communicate to protest, or should I be saying "disrupt"? This administration HAS to be stopped. :scared:
