I'm sad to say it, but I'm staying at DU
we still have lots of fighting to do.

I think the mainstream DLC Dems are barely better than the repukes and far too often are accomplices in the evil being perpetrated on our country and the world. I'm disgusted. I'm frustrated with those who try to defend them.

But this is still the best place for us to gather, discuss and prepare ourselves for the battle against the fascists.

DU is hands down the most addictive thing I've ever been involved with, to the point it could break up my marriage LOL.

And furthermore, you are absolutely right that the fight is never ending and we need to be collectively as large as a voice as possible, and never give in and never give up.

Sometimes I need to clean my head and do a little knitting or something. But DU is the best site for knowing what's going on, and what my fellow liberals think about it. I don't care if I don't agree with everyone -- hearing their voices is part of what makes this place so great. *wipes away a sentimental tear*

10. Me, too, altho I am spending way too much time here
Spouse gets on my case about it. I just say, "What's it to you?"

DU is the personification of the "wisdom of crowds." There are so many people here who are experts on issues, I know I can ask and get valuable information. No one can be an expert on every issue we Dems have, but with DU I can find out what I don't already have knowledge of, or resources to go to. I have been able to blow up so many pukers arguments armed with facts from DU.

This place is indispensable. My friend always tells me that if she never talked to me, she would know NOTHING about what's going on in the world because she doesn't hear ANY OF IT on the MSM. She's right and I get almost all of my news from DU and the internet(s) and watch very little MSM. Even my husband who reads the Chicago Tribune, front to back, every day, is DAYS, sometimes WEEKS behind in information compared to what I learn on DU and the internet(s). :) This place ROCKS!

so I wanted something else in a marriage. My current husband (he hates it when I say "current" so I like to say it, heh heh, you know, keep them on their toes)was also married before. We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. So far so good but I am dreading it when he retires. I hear that's a big problemo. I'm semi-retired now and life is good, but he still works full time.

14. The DU is amazing
Even for those of us out here, like you, that are disillusioned by all of the leadership on both sides of the coin in our government today.

We can gather virtually and exchange ideas and maybe find a new way to do things. If the first American Revolution was born in the pubs and the second in the government itself, then the next will be born on the DU!!

The pub is still the best place to talk and plan. All that white noise makes it hard to listen in on your conversation.

That and there is no better fuel for the bitter political fire in your belly than good ale.

Mmmmmmm. I'll be at the bar....

17. i would rather stand behind those that are willing to speak out
Edited on Sun Jan-15-06 02:18 PM by seabeyond
kerry has been willing to speak out more times than i can count. i am tired of all the bashing of him regardless of the good he is doing. i am all for letting dlc fall to the wayside, but that means the people that do speak out need support. so that dlc will see we are a force to reckon with and our way is a brave and good way to go. not supporting the dlc. supporting dean. and everyone, (including kerry) EVERY DEM that speaks out

that also means that when a dem speaks out we dont all jump on them and say they didnt speak out my way, they didnt speak out enough, they didnt cry it out from the rafters across the nation, so.... they are weak, spineless and useless. the people on this board are not satisfied with anything, bitch and complain about all even when it is a good thing dems have accomplished

that atmosphere tires me.

46. I agree with most of what Kerry has said lately
I don't think he's as out in front of some issues as, say, Conyers or Kucinich, but he's been appropriately critical of king george and the bush crime family

He talks the talk and I agree with him. I just don't trust him to walk the walk anymore. After he quit in 2004, I was so angry and disillusioned that I probably never would have listened to another word he said. But DUers like you who remind us what he is saying have softened my attitude and opened my ears. I think Kerry can play a key and productive role in opposition to the neo-theo-corpo-fascist thugs who are trying to take over the world and destroy everything good about it. I just don't think that role should ever be Democratic Presidential candidate again.

But right here, at DU, is where you and I get to discuss this with one another.

77. we need to unite and defeat fascism
The Western Allies sucked it up and allied with the Soviet Union to defeat fascism. Surely the left and the left-center can find enough common ground to deliver jsutice to these criminal traitors curently in power

82. For only being here a short while;
I have to agree with you on DLC. I also know that I'll not live to see a candidate, of any party, elected that shares ALL my views. I'll settle for most Dems on that account.
