Are the Dems just... stupid?

They can't possibly ALLOW the Republicans to simply tell them when they CAN and CANNOT use a filibuster !

That is what this is about, not one thing less.

2. If the repubs have the votes to do it
The dems can't stop it. However, they can completely shut down any progress the government can make and bring everything to a standstill. I don't think that will play well for the dems with most Americans in regards to shutting down all government because Alito was elevated to the SC.

3. The Repubs need to remember that things can change quickly in politics
and in two years or so (hopefully) the shoe may be on the other foot.

If they pull a "nuclear option" on the Dems it won't be there for them to use down the road either... of course this also could have it's plus side... for the Dems. ;)

whith that change, it can also play the other way. If we were to block conformation, by staging a filibuster, you can guarantee a like response if the Re-pubs become the minority party and we take back the white house. The right would be screaming for turn about fair play. This is not the battle to wage a scorched earth policy.

5. I think we're in agreement ? I'm not against a filibuster, I just think
using the nuclear option would be the height of folly on the part of the RepubliCONs. It would basically be "biting of their nose to spite their face".

7. if not now, when?
My right to privacy, my right to a safe abortion, my right to see justice done to the * Administration are at risk w/ this appointment.

* shouldn't be in the white house anyway, didn't deserve it in the 1st place, needs to be impeached now. How is his appointee going to improve my country?
