As ye invade so shall ye be invaded. As ye kill mothers and children, so shall thine mother and child be killed. Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Love thine enemy. An eye for an eye. Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord.

I suppose the war pigs will soon be squealing for all Geneva Convention standards to be adhered to by "the enemy", hell, we may even have to stop torturing people ourselves if we want it to stop, but that would only make sense, something the neocons don't do.

This is horrible. I saw the uncle of one of the unfortunate soldiers, Kristian Menchaca, saying that he wished his nephew had never joined the military, saying the decent young man had some romantic vision of the Army.

This is horrible. This president and his fucking war are horrible.

How long Lord, how long will this madness go on?

Torture is only barbaric when they do it. They never have uncles who pull their hair out at the thought of the fear and agony their nephews must have experienced. Barbaric torture and executions don't happen to them hundreds of times daily.

The only thing that makes this story newsworthy is these young men happen to be from the same country I am.

3. I have a niece in the Army, stationed in Oklahoma.
She's been promised she won't have to go to Iraq, and enlisted under a program that makes her service extended by two years.

I know they'll make her go to Iraq.

Didn't you talk to her before she enlisted?

I seen some DUer (recruiter I think) passing out that line of bull here a few days ago.

He was insinuating the troops get to pick their missions after they join up.

14. I have successfully talked several young folks out of it.
But not this one, to my heart's grief. she's very gung ho, based on religious convictions.

I'm sorry if this seems "unamerican" but we need a leader who is STRONG enough to humble ourselves before the world and ask it's forgiveness. We are truly reaping what we have sown as a society and it is time to make a complete change in the way this world is run on all fronts or I fear our extinction is soon at hand. Keep your heads in the sand if you want. These are harsh truths. I honestly don't feel that most of the 90,000 on this board will live to see the next 20 years. Extrapolate that to its logical numbers with the rest of the world's population. Perhaps this should even be the way of things at this point. We've strained our mother (earth, for you non-treehuggers ;)) to the point she may not be able to give us life much longer. We still hold petty wars to take from others that which should belong to all and there seems no end in sight when the human race seems unable or unwilling to evolve. Evolution in the natural sense is a slow process but our technology and society has driven ours and not in a constructive direction. Why do the words of one of our most cherished documents "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." seem like common sense to some of us and is seemingly ignored in others when it refers to others?

Well that was cheery, I need coffee.

The fact that the "Christian" right doesn't get this, and even supports the horrible spectre of torture, is proof that they don't believe their own Book. Craniorectal impaction at its finest. And Bill O'Lielly with his pathetic faux-bravado "<the enemy> better tell me" is sickening to the core. We damn our own humanity with this insanity.

on ecology. They held mother earth in esteem and moved from place to place to avoid overuse of the land and other resources.
