What Happens to Couric If She Flops? Does she still get paid?

That's the reason employment contracts exist. The only exception clauses I've ever seen included were termination for cause, as in theft or something of that nature.

Some give employers buy-outs or release clauses (just like baseball!). Unless we can see the actual contract (and if there are performance based payment) then we won't know.
