Yet another bogeyman(woman) to fear. I guess the CIA was too busy bombing civilians in Pakistan to subvert the election.

4. Another South American government flees from Bush.
They're dropping like flies. Too many to invade to restore democrazy.

She better watch herself now. We remember what happened to the last Socialist Chile elected.

6. I am encouraged about what is happening in Latin America.
The people down there are not stupid. They saw the regional free trade agreements as b.s. and now their countries are moving to the left. This makes me pleased! I hope Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in Mexico wins as well. This will give Bush and all those pro-free trade people the middle finger!

VIVA CHILE! VIVA VENEZUELA! VIVA BRASIL! VIVA ARGENTINA! VIVA BOLIVIA!

7. Here's a link.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4613864.stm

Chile's centre-left candidate Michelle Bachelet is set to win the presidential run-off with 53% of the vote out of two-thirds counted, officials say.

Victory for Ms Bachelet would make her the country's first woman president.

Her rival, conservative businessman Sebastian Pinera, has so far polled 46.8%, the interior ministry said.

Clear results are expected within hours. Correspondents say a victory for Ms Bachelet would consolidate a swing to the political left in Latin America.

It's a welcomed victory for human rights, for women in leadership internationally and for positive change and opportunity for all the citizens of Chile.
