My Theme/Talking Points re: Alito
I was asked how I "thought the Alito hearings went" by a Repub friend of mine. I was about ready to let go with a blazing damnation of the Judiciary Committee Democrats when i realized that it was exactly what my right wing friend was waiting for me to do....

So, instead, he got this:

The Dems did a damned fine job of exposing Alito for his extreme right wing views. Why, no good, self-respecting American could possibly stand behind a man like Alito because of his beliefs on the "unitary executive". That's not a what we have in a democracy.

And also, I think they did an excellent job of pointing out that he violated ethics rules by not recusing himself from a case he had a financial interest in...and that was after he promised to do so... that alone should disqualify him from the bench.

It was also interesting that the Dems got it into the record that Alito had to be coached in a "moot Court" by members of the Department of Justice AND the NSA in order to answer, or more accurately NOT ANSWER, questions on the illegal wiretaps. That just shows that he isn't up for the job.

All-in-all....the Dems did a damned fine job of showing the American people who Samual Alito REALLY IS!.

2. Very, very quiet
He said something to the order of, "Well, I still think the President should appoint whoever he wants.

We had to rejoin our respective groups and had to let the conversation end there.....

3. I had my freeper neighbor questioning alito's character...
by pointing out the fact that he did not comfort his wife when she cried. I fully expected him to make an excuse for him, or at the very least condemn the Dems for "making" her cry, but he actually ended up condemning him for that. Nevermind his scary decisions in court, the man did not comfort his wife. I could hardly believe it.

5. And there is the blooper about his CAP membership.
That and not recusing himself when he had promised to do so....that about sums it up for me...he does not have the highest level of integrity. His ambition and ego get in the way of the impartiality needed for Supreme Court consideration.
