That's the big story!
Not the fact that Democratic Senators, like the majority of Americans, are looking for a way to hand the keys back to the Iraqis and wish them luck, so no more men come home in boxes.
I'm sick of hearing people trying to tell me why the Democrats will always get it wrong.
Some people are heavily invested in the story that Democrats aren't good at elections, can't get united, and will always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The perception managers want Democrats to feel helpless, to portay them to Independents as weak, and to portray them to Republicans as the weird kid who always gets his lunch money stolen.
To hell with that.
If someone needs to convince you that you're weak, it means they're afraid.

3. This is a full court press by the RW Noise Machine.. |
|
The Mighty Wurlitzer is cranked up and the RNC faxes are a flyin'
Every presstitute in every outlet is getting big bonuses for each repeat of the meme. There is a special, gold plated elephant turd for the bobbing head that gets the greatest number of disses in during the first 36 hour period.
Anyone here know the odds on Nora O'D.? (I hear she's an early favorite)

6. Spot the right-wing framing: "How will Democrats blow this opportunity?" |
|
And the gold-plated elephant turd is an apt symbol of the millions of dollars spent to manage public perception. It's money well-spent if you can get Americans to assume that everyone takes it for granted that Democrats are supposed to lose.
It also makes it easier for them to shrug when you go ahead and steal an election. People will shrug and say, huh, musta been better turnout, or more new registrations, or because Kerry looks French, and who really knows cuz it's all so complex.

7. They want people to wonder what's wrong with the Democrats, to distract |

from their historic new heights in bad government.

... that what happened today was not bad. Might even be good. But the FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP to get everyone on the same page leads to these easily-characterized-as-failure successes.
Be happy if you like but smart people don't continually paint a big red target on their ass and then moon folks.
