Arrested Miami men planned 'war' against U.S.
Fri Jun 23, 2006 2:55 PM BST

MIAMI (Reuters) - Seven people arrested in Miami planned attacks on the landmark Sears Tower
in Chicago and other buildings as part of a pledge to al Qaeda to wage war against the United
States, U.S. prosecutors said on Friday.

An indictment handed down against the men by a grand jury in south Florida said they sought
to gain support from Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda in order to destroy FBI buildings in the
United States. At least one of them also plotted to blow up the 110-story Sears Tower
in Chicago, it said.

The men, named as Narseal Batiste, Patrick Abraham, Stanley Grant Phanor, Naudimar Herrera,
Burson Augustin, Lyglenson Lemorin and Rotschild Augustine, were due to appear in a Miami
magistrate's court later on Friday.

A man identified as a member of the "Seas of David" religious group told CNN on Thursday
that five of his fellow members were among those arrested and that they had no connection
to terrorists.

14. ARREST THEM - DAMMIT! Gotta keep those prisons filled and
those prison guards working so the economy doesn't go KA-FLOOEY!

Now we start to arrest homegrown men (and women) so that they are ineligible to vote. Cuts down on all the OUTRAGE we are hearing about not renewing the Voting Rights Act. (sarcasm intended)

3. We can't overreact to terrorism
Yes, this may have been a legitimate plot and it's good the police foiled it if that is true.

But we can't let Bushco. say this justifies huge internal repression and secret government and foreign wars abroad. You don't need that stuff to fight terror; you need that stuff to build fear so you can build empire and profit.

Americans are so knee-jerk with the fear that everytime a little event occurs they overreact, and their leaders take advantage of that. We need reasonable response.

12. these guys couldn't even buy their own boots
or the camera to take pictures of their targets.

They were selling shampoo and hair grease on a table outside their 'temple'

They were no risk to anyone but themselves.

15. Also, it appears the FBI agent/Al Queda member offered them
some expensive supplies. Look at this, from the Miami Herald:
Batiste gave the supposed al Qaeda representative a shopping list of materials he needed -- boots, uniforms, machine guns, radios and vehicles.

Six days later, Batiste outlined his mission to wage war against the U.S. government from within using an army of his ''soldiers'' to help destroy the Sears Tower. He also gave the informant a list of shoe sizes for his soldiers.

On Dec. 29, the informant delivered the military boots to Batiste, who expanded his shopping wish list to include radios, binoculars, bulletproof vests, firearms, vehicles and $50,000 in cash.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sounds like he bribed them to compromise themselves in hopes of getting some objects they could NEVER hope to have on their own.
A set up.
5. Geez, check out those names! Are they anagrams or something?
I wonder if the CIA or whoever's running the Terra division has generated some names in Esperanto for these guys. I especially like "Burson" and "Lyglenson."
6. Nah, the FBI would've given them three names...
Conspiracy figures always have a middle name.
You know like Clinton, Kerry, Kennedy, Roosevelt, etc.
