22 percent of respondents polled said they would vote for DeLay
Playing the deliverance banjo music while thinking of the 22 percent that would still vote for him.

I hope the SOB does a lot of time. Personally I'd like to see him try to have that sarcastic smirk on his face during the mugshot this time around.

He polled 13% AFTER he was convicted, IIRC.

We're occasionally guilty of the same thing.

7. Trafficant was hardly a Democrat
DeLay IS the symbol of the repuke party. He is a partisan hack. Trafficant was a fuckin nutcase that had all but said goodbye to the party. I remember he had all sorts of nutjob conspiracy theories about Reno being after him. I think he had endorsed Bush over Gore as well.

The point here is that constituents can often be stupid. Name recognition trumps everything. People feel they get to "know" their congressperson. It's probably the same reason why people think congress is corrupt but their congressperson is clean.
