Army raises enlistment age for the second time this year
http://www.wzzm13.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=56591

Washington, D.C. - More Americans can now join the military. The U.S. Army has raised its enlistment age. Now people can volunteer to serve in the Army or part-time Army Reserves and National Guard until they're 42. snip

The Army Reserve predicted it will miss it's recruiting target for the second straight year.

1. Bottom Line!
Within the next Decade: Anyone who does not need to use a "Power Chair" is good to go for enlistment. :P

...the rich and upper middle class kids ever being drafted?

I can't think of one. I suspect that doesn't occur very much if ever.

All the middle class kids I grew up with received deferments during Vietnam for one thing or another.

My brother got one because he was an apprentice Tool and Die maker in a factory when we had a half a million soldiers in Vietnam. That kind of thing was pretty common last time there was a draft.

4. Sadly no, though historically those who served volunteered
like TR and the Kennedys, but I think it is statement of this country has fallen that now we need to raise the age of enlistment. And the upper class, will be the ones who will send these people to fight the wars. But then again maybe the fact that the Pentagon has to resort to this means that actually many young people of various economic backgrounds are saying FU to Bush's war. a silver lining?
