Tonight's "Boondocks" was a powerful statement on modern America |
|
Did anyone see this episode tonight?
In case you didn't, the episode is basically a "what if" if Dr.MLK JR wasn't shot and killed--but rather went into a coma and awoke in 2000. The episode follows Dr.King as he awakens in a world that has, in his (paraphrased) words, "waiting for another Dr.King to come along to lead the next black american revolution". He is shocked, and appalled, by black youth culture. He is also called "anti-American", among other things, for being against the wars after 9/11. Very interesting.
In one of the most powerful and downright shocking moments I have ever seen on television, Dr.King delivers a scathing speech to the black youths calling them lazy, irresponsible, and "niggers".
One of the most brilliant episodes of any television I have ever seen.
