A c-span morning...
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 09:34 AM by berner59
Watching Bruce Fein (constitional law)on Washington Journal now...talking wiretapping and how Bush broke the law...then it's followed by our Al (12noon) hopefully giving it to Bush like only Al can...tune in!! I'm sure they'll repeat the Gore speech tonight...

Stupid repubs calling in...calling Fein a liberal...he's a repub (Fein)...Fein quoting the law...Bush is sunk on this one...

1. It may be too much to hope for - but wouldn't it be great

if Al called for Bush's impeachment? If he led the charge?

3. oh yes...leading the charge...
That would be amazing...he can grab headlines. He just needs to tone down his reverand-like screaming - then the media jumps all over him like he's a nut... Come on Al - stay focused and somewhat calm...

6. One question for the pro-wiretappers:
.... How are you going to feel, Mr. Republican Redneck, when there's a DEMOCRATIC President who wants to wiretap YOU ?

9. Fein says Bush's arguments...
rationale for his wiretapping is nothing but "nonsense on stilts"...love it...

Fein says we can't trust any President to go above the law... Repub calling in saying that Bush is wrong...says that he's being anti-democratic...wow...is the worm turning?? He has "buyers remorse"...cool....

Fein says Pres is close to crossing the line on separations of power...

16. They're not willing to give up THEIR freedoms...
They're only willing to give up ours. They figure as long as they're on the "same side" as Bush, he'd never wiretap them or, if he did, that no action would be taken against them because they're all on the same "team". What isn't talked about enough on national call-in shows (or anywhere else) is that Bush is expanding presidential authority for good. If a Democrat is elected in 08', he or she could also wiretap and that would make Republicans VERY NERVOUS.

20. A caller did bring that up this a.m. The issue I find
that's missing is all these people who are pro-wiretapping qualify it by thinking this is only happening on calls to and from mideast countries. They apparently don't realize it's happening in their own back yards. That meme needs to get out there more.

12. Fein Wanted To String Up Clinton...
I hated that weasel when he was citing the constitution (just like he is now) in making his case.

Yep, boooosh faces an interesting court fight in the future on this issue and his liability, thanks to Paula Jones, opens him up to personal litigation. Way to go Bruce!

15. Gives him more creedence then...
If he's just a "by the law book" man...then Bush is really in trouble...you had to stretch it with Clinton...this is so incredibly blatant - how can Bush get off this?? No date on the hearings yet, right??

26. The Dumbing Down Of America
Blame the corporate culture or any of a dozen different reason, but sex and anything connecting other of the deadly sins titilates the corporate media and gets the "outrage" treatment compared to one involving civil rights, liberties and justice. Laws are convenient when you can use them as a weapon, they're an inconvenience when they get in the way of your agenda.

Sadly, there were more people who could relate to a sloppy bj than having someone listen in on their phone conversations or take their hard-earned tax money and hand it to rich, corporate fat cats. It isn't sexy...you can't get a "stiffie" on these subject...they don't draw ratings...they don't get the energy boiling.

It isn't boooosh whose in trouble, it's the American citizen as enough sheeple have agreed or been lulled to sleep to allow a kleptocarcy to not only develop but become idolized.

Cheers...

14. Did they say
that he worked with Cheney on something involving Iran-Contra? I just turned it on as they were introducing him.

It's like defending the CIA, or agreeing with Pat Buchanan, or trying to find a reason to continue agencies like DARPA and the NSA; you die a little inside each time.

I really wish Bush was the be all, end all. It would make this that much easier.

19. wow...
Fein just gave a great rant...saying that if Bush continues to think he's above the law and he can do anything he wants, that he won't submit legislation to congress - then he's no different than King George III...yeah...keep it up...

22. Bush's justification...
conveys a real "ignorance" of constitutional meaning... That's what troubles him the most...he would want Bush to realize his mitakes and correct it...but he thinks basically he's dellusional...(my take on his comments)

25. Yes, Fein of the Clinton character assassination. He must have taken
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 10:19 AM by higher class
speech therapy. His voice and body were so tight and shrill in the last decade that I always thought he was going to explode. He was out there making a legal case against Clinton - over and over and it seemed to me, with glee and some frustration.

This is a major conversion in the tone and timbre of his voice and in the realization that a Clinton hater could actually apply common sense about a law and separation concept.

It seemed his entire message on C-Span this morning is a call to Bush to reverse his position in addition to explaining his interpretation of the law which by some miracle (knowing who he is) is the same as what other non-right wing constitutional lawyers have said.

Barr and Fein. Who would have thought.

Are there more? Do Barr and Fein both belong to the Federalist Society? If yes, it appears that George has caused divisiveness to creep into another association. This is most interesting if they are members because it will be other lawyers from this same Society who will be defending their advice to Dick and George that the spying could all be found legal?

28. I keep thinking I may be mistaken, but I found him particularly
maddening, not because of his high pitched, shrill, uptight delivery with the half smile on his face the entire time, but because I kept thinking there goes a man who should know better that to make a fool of himslef in such a political way.
