I'm thinking of a quarter-page bit, printed on both sides on good cardstock. On one side, an abbreviated form of the Flag Code mentioning the most common offenses, such as letting the Flag get tattered, flying it at night or in inclement weather, being used as a beach towel or underwear, etc. Emphasis would be made that these rules come out of existing federal law, with a reference to the appropriate title and section of the USC.

The other side would ask quite simply, "Why do you hate the American Flag?" The Flag itself would not be depicted on the card; special mention should be made of this fact and point out that such depictions are, themselves, a violation of the Flag Code.

A few dollars at Alpha Graphics or Kinko's, and you have dozens of cards you can pass around at the 4th of July picnics. :evilgrin:

a photo of it, take the flag out of the Bible, burn the Bible in a public place, while displaying posters of the photos of the flag inside and then not-inside the Bible, and say (main message of the protest): "I hereby burn this Bible, and burn this flag symbolically within this Bible, to protest the war on Iraq and the Bush junta shredding of our Constitution."

Now then, you may or may not have placed the small flag back inside the Bible before you burned it. Let them try to prove it! Is placing the flag inside a Bible a "desecration" of the flag? Is taking it OUT of the Bible a "desecration" of the flag? Is photographing it a "desecration" of the flag? Is THINKING ABOUT BURNING THE FLAG or SUGGESTING that it MIGHT HAVE BEEN BURNED a "desecration" of the flag?

Or better yet, let's forget flag-burning. (It was always kind of an adolescent thing to do, anyway.) And let's SOAK THE FLAG! Privately, in your back yard, besmirch the flag with blood, oil, corporate toxic filth and filthy political campaign mud, bring this FILTHY FLAG to a protest, where a BUCKET OF CLEAN WATER has been prepared, and SOAK THE FLAG. We don't need to burn the flag. We ned to CLEAN the flag!

One other idea: A hundred thousand (and maybe more? a million? two million?) people marching on the Capitol, each carrying a flag, and every flag turned upside down--the military sign for "distress." I also like silence. A completely silent crowd of two million people. Maybe one sign at the front: "End the war. Restore transparent elections."

These Jokers don't deserve--and certainly can't handle--reasonable debate. They just need to be ridiculed. Stephen Colbert had the right idea. MOCKERY! Let's have some fun! Let's ignore their phony, pre-written narratives of their phony, miraculous, "comeback" Diebold "election victories" (--'hate gays, hate brown people, kill Arabs and don't burn the flag, and Americans will love you, and want to be ruled by your Emperor"), and MAKE FUN OF THE BUSHITES IN A PUBLIC PLACE!

Anybody willing to play the Emperor and not wear clothes? That kind of thing. March him down Pennsylvania Avenue with a George Bush mask on his face, and a crown of corporate logos on his head! And nothing else! (Okay, a cod piece!) (--don't want to get him arrested--or, better yet, when we reach the White House, one million people take off their clothes, put George Bush masks and crowns on their heads, and hold a million flags upside down (covering their private parts?). And laugh...oh, how we will laugh!
