I can't believe I'm sitting here sobbing!
We just witnessed an historic moment. Al Gore bravely exposed and explained the crimes we've been recognizing and has given all of us (including our elected officials) the leadership to act as a people, without fear. I hope that speech was on every TV in Congress.

Things may be changing quickly, as it was just announced that the Alito vote will be delayed for a week. The next speeches are Demo Wednesday, right?

Oh, what a wonderful day!!!!

congress, and diverts from accountablility from congress or the judicial system.

7. That was an amazing speech
and Al Gore is a very brave man.

I hope the rest of the Democratic leadership was taking notes.
We need a thousand people emulating AL.

THANK YOU MR. GORE.

11. Strike while the iron is hot and build on the foundation Gore has laid.
Letters to him to declare himself to run in 2008 for starters. Letters to congresscritters urging them to lend their voices to the truth Gore spoke today.

15. First thought that came to my mind: HISTORIC
Folks, I don't care how much they try to limit the exposure of this historic speech, people WILL hear it! I haven't heard a speech like that since Martin Luther King's "I have a dream". I'll always remember that it was cold and sunny, and where I was and who I was with when I heard Al Gore's speech. The same way I remember MLK's speech. Even if we don't hear alot about this for awhile in the media, what happened on Jan. 16, 2006 was pivotal in the future of this country.

17. I was so pleased...
at the passion he stirred up in me! It's been so difficult to muster up any positive feelings about the direction we've been going, but this reminded me that our country is worth fighting for! I feel so empowered right now! I've got to tape this tonight so I can watch it when I'm feeling hopeless.

Oh, yes, it HAS been a wonderful day!!!!

You go Al!

20. That speech cannot
be "soundbited." He spoke of everything that they have done except election reform. All the lies, all the power grabbing. I think he must be reading DU. ;-)

22. I Was Thinking The Same Thing
You said, "I think he must be reading DU."

I don't know how many times that crossed my mind, during the speech. Just in the wording he used in some issues, and the ornery expressions he had when he stared at the camera. I'm printing out the speech so I can go through and pick them out.

24. In that case...
... it will be ignored.

People will either find the soundbites or it will be as if he never gave the speech.

27. Well, I think dems and progressives...
... have too many parties. The slightest dip in Bush approval ratings and it's all "Wooohoooo! they're going down now!". Paul Hackett does better than expected, but loses his congressional run and
you'd think Bush resigned. Remember all the high-fiveing when the filibuster compromise was reached?

Compare to the GOP... They'll scream bloody murder over Clinton delaying his flight while he gets a hair cut.

Seeing more of that fire would cheer me up.

Seeing Gore give a more quotable speech would have been nice but if that's not the case (I haven't read the speech yet myself) then hearing ideas about how to make the media cover the speech would cheer me up.

21. It was so massive and so involved
it's hard to explain. I just tried in an email to my grandchildren. I had apologized at Christmas for the awful mess I would be bequeathing to them when I died. TODAY, I sent an email to them to be sure to watch CSPAN and the wonderful, historical Gore speech that will free us all.

I closed with the positive thought that I might just live long enough to see this world and our great country all put back together, again.

Can I call Al, Mr. Humpty Dumpty?

26. Massive and involved...
... will not do it. It will not affect the average voter unless it can be packaged into easy to swallow pills. The speech may make us feel better but unless there's some "Ask not..."s or likewise in there it will not have reach.

If the only chance to save America is for 51% to read a page of text or more, well, it will never happen.

28. He did have a couple quotes, toward the end
but I need to go through the speech to find them, as I was so excited to finally see someone stand up and call a spade a spade, I can't remember it all.

GOTV: I think you need to sit down and listen to the entire speech, then let us know if you still think it has no reach.

I hope you feel better, soon.:) Peace!
