Sometimes I feel alienated on DU
with the DLC stuff, the libs, progressives, anarchists, atheists... you name it. So many folks I have really little in common with except a sense that something is wrong.

But after the speech today I feel like I have come home. I pray we can all see that this man has come at this time for a reason.

America is not dead. I am flying the flag today.

7. Have some tea with me, dear.
We may even spike it with some good ol American Spirit! ;)

Send transcripts to your Congress Critters. Highlight parts you really want them to pay attention to. Let them know we are watching, we care and we INSIST they start acting on the oaths they all took. Let them know they WILL start doing right by America or WE WILL replace their sorry asses!

Send LTTE with quotes from Gore's speech. Get people talking about it! MSM will not give the attention the speech deserves, so once again, we need to BE THE MEDIA!

This is OUR country. Let them be reminded of that important difference between this and tyranny!

TG, you are a part of what makes DU great. NEVER doubt that! You are not alone.

8. AL unites us all because he is unafraid to speak truth to power.
Dr. King would be so very proud of him. :)

Democrats are Democrats because we allow each other to agree to disagree. We are democratic in nature. This is our strength (and also a weakness to be exploited by the Republicans.) Republicans, on the other hand (old fashoined moderate Republicans excluded), tend to march in lockstep and allow no dissent among the ranks.

DU is kinda like having the whole family into the house for the holidays. You know the dog's going to try to eat the turkey again, Uncle Max will get drunk and want to play the piano and sing (badly) at 2am, and that you'll end up doing dishes and picking up after the mess for a week. But, the house is way too quiet after the New Year.

he played hand in hand with Clinton. Good times. And I have absolutely no worries about national security because I think he can do what needs to be done..but he'll give it a bit of though perhaps and seek out some assistance. But in a pinch, he'll protect this land.

25. I'm begining to realize we all feel this way... at least
every one i've been honest enough to share this feeling with-

But, maybe it is because we have been so frustrated by this nation, the news, and this time in history, that we don't see how connected we really are- And the way we keep being told, 'You are either 'with us' or with the enemy'-

Your posts help me feel at home- and connected- we need that so much. All of us- There is far more that binds us together, than that which tears us apart. Thank you for reminding us of that- Thank you for helping celebrate that truth-

I glad to be here, now, regardless of what has been or will be-

Peace,
and love to all,

blu

33. I share your feelings, T-Grannie
and I wonder if Gore would keep this up on the campaign trail.

My eyes tear when I think where we could be today if the Supreme Court hadn't screwed us in Bush v. Gore. No 9-11. No Afghan War. No Iraq War. A budget surplus growing steadily. Social Security solidified for the next hundred years. 2200+ young men and women cherished in the bosoms of their families. Pat Tillman playing in the Pro Bowl. Lynndie England laboring in obscurity in Fort Gay, West Virginia. Cindy Sheehan quietly baking cookies and going to church.

But we are where are. And where we are is a place where it is imperative that we give whole-hearted support to those who arise and speak truth to power. Right now, that means giving our wholehearted support to Al Gore.

34. Well said....I felt the same way...
As if some veil or fog had lifted and some "normalcy" had crept into this nightmare we have been living through. Someone who finally spoke out about what we all have been obsessing about on this site for six years.

Every thing we talk about has been mentioned. He did leave out the election fraud but if he'd mentioned that the MSM would have been all over him yelling "sour grapes" and not mentioned the true thrust of his speech.

I don't know if anyone could have been as thrilled with his speech even a year ago...but the timing right now was just so perfect. It restored my sanity about what I've felt is so wrong out there today and the lack of any historical context to put it in. He pulled all the pieces together, connected the dots and made me feel normal and among real Americans once again. The only real Americans I've been around for the last six years have been on this site. :D And, most of us might have been normal at one time but the sieges of Bush have made us seem a little less than mainstream.

may have literally nothing in common...except an extreme desire to see our country doing better than it is. You may not like me, standing in line next to me at the cashier, but be assured, we're working toward the same thing. Even with our own ideas, belief systems etal. :toast:

Lots of us feel this way here with all of the dang diversity, but that is what comprises "We, the People" as a whole......and this openness to diversity is part of the agony and ecstasy of being a Dem, and a DUer.....:D

I just now listened to the speech and feel a great sense of peace too - that someone can say it all so well for ALL of us. Only 2 days ago I felt so disheartened and told my husband that I was now going to take a major long break from news-reading, politics, and DU.....and then along came Al.
