Here is the text of the letter I just sent to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

On Martin Luther King Day, Vice President Al Gore delivered a speech which I consider the most important speech presented to Americans in the last 30 years. Vice President Gore correctly diagnosed and detailed the current Constitutional crisis gripping our government. I have no doubt that the Bush administration with the cooperation of our docile media will respond with “swiftboat” attacks to deflect attention from the substance of Mr. Gore’s speech.

In his speech, Vice President Gore called for ALL Americans to resist the Executive attack on the fundamental foundations of our Democracy. The American Forefathers foresaw the possibility of Executive Branch abuses of power, and placed the responsibility of oversight in the hands of the American citizens. I encourage ALL Americans to look beyond the inevitable “swiftboat” attacks, and study the substance of this speech. Mr. Gore made some very specific claims backed up by very specific facts. Those who value their Liberty and Democracy won’t be blinded by the administration’s appeals to fear and partisanship.
