I'm putting up, over the next half hour, an MP3 audio file of the speech as well as a few selected clips of my favorite bits, starting with what Gore said about Martin Luther King day, spying, and FISA. Next up will be Gore's "the President is Breaking the Law", soon.

The reason Mr. D is banned from CanOFun is that he went to my site one day, took a video clip that was one of my edited compiles, thus was a fair use representation that had taken some time and effort, (compilation meaning that it was a few clips that I edited and put together in a new, unique format) then took my site logo, reworked my video, added in my site logo to his flash file, put my site logo on his Chris-Floyd site, all without asking. He did tell me he had done it, and at that point I asked him to ask first next time before taking videos, that I wanted him to remove my logo from his flash video and his site. (Imagine if I took the DU logo without asking and put it into my videos-think Skinner would be happy with that?) He argued about it but after I repeatedly, politely asked him to do so, he finally did. He was angry that I had asked him not to do it, and that I pointed out on a couple of sites where he posted that it came from me, so he made sure to PM me with a couple of F* yous.

It was surprising because I had linked to a few of his videos (Not copied them but linked to his URL)-you can bet I"m taking off the links tonight.

I decided to ban his IP after he attacked me and this apparently didn't sit too well with him, as he came on and griped about it after, followed my posts around and harrassed me. His posts were removed, but he apparently still isn't happy about the fact that I do not want him on my site, so he's griping about it again.

So, bluntly, the reason he's banned is because he took a video of mine without asking, took my site logo without asking, and then cursed me when I had him stop. He's the only person on this board that is so banned, but I won't hesitate to ban anyone that is an annoyance and nuisance to me.

More generally, I have on several occasions put up instructions on how people can create fair use clips. And I, on the site, have requested that people link to the things I do but not copy them. I think that's fair and I certainly encourage people to figure out how to do it. I will link to anyone's content (sans one person anymore) and think it's great when "If you're gonna listen or watch, you make a recording" for others to hear. I also happen to think, though, in the case of the vids I make that are edited or compiled in some way, which takes time, that I should be able to say if I want someone to copy it elsewhere when it's my effort.

CanOFun is a hobby site. I don't have advertising on it, nor does it cost anything to access it. I have made efforts to have the videos work for various clients; if they don't, it's not for a lack of effort. The server was taken down when I saw that the MAC clients were having trouble with the new streaming format and the problem was fixed. I understand I can't please everyone, but they seem to work well for most people.

But I refuse to be smeared in this way, and, unlike John Kerry, I am going to speak up and set the record straight. Thank goodness for ignore.

This can happen for many reasons such as your ISP is on a blacklist or someone on the site continuously got banned from a website. Possibly the isp you use allowed spam through it. I believe you can check it out on spamcop.net and checking to see if your isp is on a block list (or blacklisted)

There are probably other reasons but it's probably not canofun.com blocking you.

Hijacking is when you take someone's pictures, video or web content. If someone does not like the fact that you are using their website content, they have every right to ban you from accessing it in the future.
