Anyone else feel pumped after Gore's speech?
I didn't get to hear or see it, but I read the transcript on the Drudge Report. I have to say, I'm feeling very good about things now! Damned, is Gore the man or what? Maybe this will provide the impetus for Congress to finally wake up and do their damned job. Bush has got to go, no ifs ands or buts.

1. yes! so pumped that I drafted the following letter
you are welcome to use any or all of it. Write to Gore (snail mail only) and ask him to run again! There's another thread in GD in ActivistHQ. Take action!

Dear Mr. Gore:

Because the company I work for acknowledges Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I was granted the rare privilege of tuning into your speech to the Daughters of the American Revolution today. I was so moved by your powerful oratory, I was compelled to write and ask you to consider running for office again in 2008.

Like you, not only am I dismayed by the actions of the current administration, I am also troubled by the lack of any concerted opposition to the Bush administration’s policies. While listening to you today, I felt for the first time in a long time that here was someone in the public forum speaking truth and representing my interests. You gave voice to just about everything the grass-roots has been grumbling and boiling over about since the election was stolen from you in 2000.

Please, Mr. Gore, if we drum up enough grassroots support, would you consider running again? Among many quote-worthy moments in your speech today, you said that it is up to We the People to take back this great Republic, to stand up to this growing tyranny, and restore constitutional values to the governance of this great country. Well, sir, we need leadership. We need someone who can represent our interests and who can fight against the corruption and oppressive lobbying interests backed by the multinationals. I respectfully ask, as just one regular, taxpaying American citizen among many, I ask you to be that voice of reason against all the lies and propaganda.

As a show of my support for and faith in your candidacy, I am enclosing $1 in support of your campaign. If you do run, I will actively volunteer on your behalf (need help in Communications? That’s my background). If you don’t, please donate my contribution to the appropriate civil rights or civil liberties organization. Please know, Mr. Gore, that in this time of darkness, America needs you now more than ever.

3. And to think I was accused of being a freeper for suggesting that
Several weeks ago, I asked if Gore should run in '08. Most of the replies were favorable, but some basically accused me of being a troll, or worse a freeper. I know the man has said he doesn't want to run, but this country needs him! I honestly believe that Gore will answer the call of duty and run. There are too many people in this country who look up to him, and he would provide great leadership.

(which can be a blessing AND a curse), we are a diverse bunch. And that may be part of the problem of our failure lately. While the right has been pretty much in lockstep for the past 10 years, we are all over the board, which, IMHO, is one of the things so endearing about us.

BUT IN ORDER TO TAKE BACK THE EXECUTIVE AND LEGISLATIVE BRANCHES, WE MUST PRESENT A UNITED FRONT!!!

11. I did. Then it also occurred to me
that I might in fact be listening to American democracy's swan song in that remarkable speech. If Altio gets on the Court, everything * is doing could very well be upheld by the SCOTUS.

Will our Democratic counter-elites answer the bell? To me, that's the question.

12. I'm pumped and I only heard one sentence on the radio
"When the American President starts to break laws, then it threatens the very foundation of our Democracy" - or something to that effect.

address him as Mr. President.
