2. That's a pretty disgusting... |

Comparison. It makes light of the horror that is lynching. You can't sue for lyncing. You can't appeal lyncing. You can't take lynching to the Supreme Court. You can't beat lynching in the next election. You can't write a letter to lynching.
Get real. Randi is sullying the memor of Dr. Martin Luther King.

3. Oh for crying out loud. |

It is not equating one with the other, it's communicating that problems remain.

Yeah, problems remain. Here's a hint: there will always be problems. Heaven is never coming down to earth.
However, be that as it may, there is a big difference between controversial voting technology and hanging human beings off of trees. It disgusts me that anyone would even place those two things on a continuum, let alone equate them. If you can't see that that kind of rhetoric is uncalled for, maybe you should get your head examined. You obliviously can't see the difference.

4. I think what she's trying to say is that disenfrancising people of color |
|
has taken on a more subtle and insidious form.
Lynching is/was horrible, no one is disputing that. But it is/was also "in your face." White people had picnics around it.
Diebold, voter intimidation, redistricting, etc. seeks to silence blacks in this country just like lynching. Just more subtly...and in ways harder to prove/trace.
