He was introducing Black People

every African American would clap for Dorothy Height!

The rest of his message was written for the audience. If he can read today, there will be nothing that he says that they can boo.

It is what he does and says after he leaves that room that proves he is a bigot.

3. Making apologies that Laura is not there
Mangling names of those across the globe.

Both wives are traveling together.

Thanks the NAACP for their strong leadership.

so far, the only applause is for the laundry list of acknowledgements of those in attendance.

8. He has the audience in a Phony Op

If they don't clap, they will look silly.

If they clap, it will appear that his Phony Words are sincere.

They are empty words.

What a low dow dog he is.

He just said that congress must renew the voting rights bill --- let's see what happens on that .

12. he's pushing Rosa, and I loved and admired her, but
what is with this???-

He doesn't have anything of substance to say-

He clearly has nothing in common or positive to say about MLK-

In fact, he sure has something against him.

Maybe his integrety, and the fact that he was a true man of faith.- Willing to be hosed down, beaten, and murdered for the cause of REAL freedom for ALL humankind. Not someone who hides behind the secret service, wears costumes, and blows smoke-

i pity the little man he once again proves himself to be.

26. He slipped in the Voting Rights Act

that all of a sudden HE wants Congress to extend.

Of course, we as African Americans would have to clap for that but what were we really clapping for ----

We were clapping to thank the Great White Father for extending our right to vote.

Damn!

Why should the issue even be on the table!

Clinton would have never approached the issue like that Crook. He would have expanded on that one until everyone in that room would totally understand that there should not even have to BE such a thing as an extension.

It reminded me of what the end of slavery must have been like --- thank you White Man for allowing me to be free in a country that you brought me to in chains. One that I helped to build with no pay check in sight.

Now Great White Father Bush is telling us that he will allow us to continue to be able to VOTE --- IN 2006!

Insulting!

28. so true-
i'm an ..fan... of Lincoln, but the Emancipation Proclamation didn't say 'equality'- it said 'free'.

And, Lincoln didn't come to his enlightenment about in-equality until after he was involved in the war between the states, and was actually more concerned initially with the issue of not disolving the 'union'.

Similarly, JFK, wasn't as personally passionate about civil rights when MLKjr. began his struggle. It was actually RFK who was passionately moved by the movement, and who dearly desired to make REAL changes in this country.

Kanye West spoke the truth- That is even more evident every time bush opens his lips and utters syllables.

34. It reminded me of that scene from Gone With The Wind
Where the carpetbaggers are telling the freed slaves that the government is going to give them 40 acres and a mull. He then tells them that they will then be able to vote, because "we're your friends. And you're gonna vote like your friends vote".

There should NEVER be a question as to whether it will be extended or not.

14. Why Chimp can't read
the poor man can't even read his own speech....
he's slurring and his delivery is totally stilted...
probably the first time he's even looked at it.

What a loser of a president.

Seems someone could have read it to him first. Perhaps a DVD of someone reading it? Something!

Where was that speech? Hope we didn't have to pay too much for him to TRAVEL anywhere to deliver that.

22. Pathetic... isn't it?
Conversely, I saw Al Gore give a speech about 6 months ago...
without notes or a teleprompter... he just knew his stuff and
spoke from the heart ... he is SO much a better man than the
Chimp... in every capacity

16. Thank Goodness, we heard the REAL President Gore before...
Chimpy spoke for a few minutes about MLK. He had to read his words, and still screwed them up. He is truly an embarr-ass-ment...Especially after listening to Gore, who IS the real President, who is intelligent, informed, and KNOWS the constitution. He knows the crises we are in.
