Did Gore mention the "incompetence"?
Imean I have never seen a more incompetent Administration in my lifetime. And in my reading of history, I cannot find one either? I did hear him challenge Cheney's comments about if they had had the right to eavesdrop before 9/11, they might have prevented it?? Gore pointed out that they did have the right but becasue of incompetence, they failed to identify the threat. Has any Democrat ever said that before - other than here at DU?

2. Yes, he did, Kentuck. As a direct consequence of consolidation of power.
No-bid contracts, et al. I haven't checked the transcripts.

4. Yes.
And since incompetence=Bush, I hope that speech launches that idea across the households in America.

6. also brought up the fact that we had 2 names of the hijackers before 911
and that one was even in the phone book.

It was specifically aimed at Cheney! :)

8. Unaccountable incompetence
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 04:26 PM by susu369
is what Gore called it.

I would have added corrupt incompetence - but Gore is a lot smarter than I'll ever be. President Gore was respectful (angry but respectful). Will he ever get credit for that? We know the answer.

9. Gore also mentioned that they had the name of 2 hijackers
and with a little work could have uncovered all 14, I have heard snips about the
Rep. Curt Weldon (R-7th) PA, investigation of Able Danger but I have not heard any testimony
about it. I do know that 9-11 commission did not investigage Able Danger.

HMMMM........

:-)

10. Yes he did
"In the absence of rigorous checks and balances, incompetency flourishes, and dishonesty is encouraged and rewarded." -- Al Gore, Jan. 16, 2006

At least that's the way I jotted it down. He may have said it slightly differently in the transcript.

12. I believe he also ad libbed the phrase
"unaccountable incompetence" to describe BushCo. I quoted it in one of the real time threads.
