Does this part of Gore's speech leave any doubt who was behind
the assassination of MLK?

"The FBI privately called King the "most dangerous and effective negro leader in the country" and vowed to "take him off his pedestal". The government even attempted to destroy his marriage and blackmail him into committing suicide.
This campaign continued until Dr. King's murder.

1. Oh god!
I heard that too.

That speech made Hoover and the FBI of the sixties look SO bad...

... but it made Bush and the current operatives look even worse.

Our country is in such deep shit... I hope we the people have the
strength to pull us out of it.

3. He sure did

The most telling was his verbage...
He SAID "murder".
He DIDN'T say "assassination".
I don't think that was a mistake.

4. I caught that as well
Often you hear people talking about Dr. King's death, but the use of the word "murder" hit me immediately. A very deliberate syntax choice on his part.

5. I'm glad you brought that up.
It seemed to me Gore was drawing the conclusion that the government murdered King when he said that.

That was one of the first things that jumped out at me while he was speaking.

6. If I was accused of murdering everyone I wanted dead or destroyed...
I'd spend half my life in court.

So would a lot of people.

I'm not saying that the FBI wasn't behind his assassination, or that there wasn't a conspiracy.

I'm just saying that if there was a conspiracy, this isn't the smoking gun.
