Bush decried "Jim Crow" laws in his MLK speech when GOP has systematically |
|
suppressed the black vote under Jeb Bush's leadership in Florida in 2000 and most recently in Ohio in 2004 with their felon purge lists and other GOP tricks to purge blacks from the voting rolls. "Jim Crow" lives today in the guise of such GOP shenanigans. Ken Blackwell then led the GOP charge to suppress the black vote in Ohio in 2004.
This is the way the GOP has chosen to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, by working to disenfranchise black voters in creative new ways--erroneous felon purges, throwing out registrations because paper not "heavy" enough, not having enough machines in black precincts, not letting voters cast provisional ballots, etc.
Shame on them! Shame on Bush!
