Martin Luther King Jr. being attacked today via Wikipedia!

http://rising-hegemon.blogspot.com/2006/01/they-attack-you-on-your-own-day.html

They attack you on your own day!
Sheesh, what kind of creeps and morons would attack Dr. King through the Wiki-whosit website on his own day? Man, what are the odds? (insert sardonic smiley right here) Yup that's right dear friends! Martin Luther King, Jr.'s biographical entry on the free online publicly-edited online encyclopedia thingie called Wikipedia has been repeatedly vandalized today, an ongoing attack, forcing volunteer editors to monitor the page constantly throughout this day of remembrance.

The bio

This page tracks the edit history & vandalism

Does this mean we are growing or slipping as a society? Or both? Personally, I think this is just another manifestation of the extremists taking over the country, congress, the courts, the churches, and our schools. Hey, have I forgotten any other place? I am sure that the truth brigades will get right on this.

How low can they go?

1. I know corelation is not causation, but it IS interesting that with the
rise of the "Right" we've also had what appears to be more publicly sanctioned Racism.

7. That is one of the many things that was removed from the wiki entry
because it links to the white supremacists. Unfortunately, it looks like it was only one of many attacks on the entry today. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AMartin_Luther_King%2C_Jr.&diff=35456351&oldid=34655292

5. Some feel threatened because MLK was effective
and as a result they resort to these nasty, petty acts that ultimately only serve to show how weak and vicious they are themselves.

When MLK was shot in 1968, the flag at my all-white NJ high school was lowered to half-staff out of respect for him. At some point during the next day, a small group of moronic jocks ran out there and raised the flag to full staff.

The school administrators, fortunately, lowered the boom on these jerks. The principal made a speech over the school P.A. system about the value of MLK's nonviolent leadership and the embarrassing, stupid behaviors of certain individuals.

What had MLK done to these suburban white teenagers? Nothing. They had learned their racist attitudes from their parents, and decided to pull this stupid stunt to show their disrespect for a great leader. All their act showed was what a pack of morons they themselves were.

6. Fear and ignorance.forces some to do shameful deeds.
The great thing about Martin is, he wouldn't have given a shit. His pride was in his message, not his bio. They can try and defile him but his words are immortal. I may not know his every word, quote by quote, but his message will pass on even if they try and change the truth.

Rest in Peace Martin,
We'll try and take it from here.
