Scathing: George Bush: Protected by Raw, Naked Power
This is an important article but this paragraph stands on it's own:

By the use of raw power, the lack of action by the Republican leadership reduces the Nuremberg principles, won by the blood spilled by millions of people, to a hollow, momentary statement in history, not a set of humanitarian principles that should guide the conduct of nations toward each other for some time to some.

3. I dont even think democratic leaders would say what happend i Iraq was cri
minal. It was a stratigic error. I just dont think there is any legal grond to say that the United States of America has to have the United Nations permission to wage war. John Kerry would not even agree to that.

12. no the article was making it sound like it was criminal because it did not
have UN permission. I disagree with that. It could be criminal though for the lies behind it.

6. Strategic error my ass
We went to war under a pack of lies generated for the sole purpose of going to war.
Why would you expect Kerry to say it? He isn't stupid. He is an attorney and knows full well it isn't what you KNOW, it is what you can PROVE in a court of law.
Right now with a Republican whore Congress, there won't be any proof forthcoming.
However, at some point in time history will be the judge of this illegal war and the war crimes perpetrated by the United States of America under the guise of leadership of George W. Bush.

11. Breaking treaties is a crime
That is your word and your honor as a country.
Are you familiar with the Downing Street Memos?
Are you familiar with George Galloway's testimony to Congress that was shut down?
In the article it says
"The adoption of a policy of preemptive war against any nation is tricky, because it rest ultimately on the quality of the intelligence at the disposal of the war-makers. But there is evidence in the British intelligence documents that this war was intentional, therefore, even more of a crime against humanity, a high crime which is more than a misdemeanor, a felony in the eyes of the international community."

I am not sure what you don't understand here.

13. It was criminal...read your constitution...
we are not to wage pre-emptive war. The bogus intel leading up also was criminal..the torturing of prisoners was criminal. The Geneva Convention was a treaty approved by congress and as such became a part of our constitution.
As I said, read the constitution. There was no legal ground TO go to war.

15. Very Important. Nuremberg Principles were violated. This war is a crime.
We don't need "benchmarks for success". We need to bring the troops home now. We should turn bush/cheney to international courts.
We should honor heroes like Jimmy Massey.
