11. YES YES!...Exactly.
It is the same as they accuse us of wanting more US troop deaths. It shows how hypocritical they are. The tragedy is that while they say that about us, WE wanted NO TROOP DEATHS!!!

13. But at the same time,
you just know they're worried about it too, because if another "terrist" strike does happen it will mean their King didn't keep them safe after all - just like he didn't keep the WTC victims safe on his watch. I'm still mystified at how they haven't made that connection yet.

16. Some of them have.
They're just counting on being able to distract others from making it too. All they have to do is keep things stirred up. Be first on one side of the issue then on the other and back again.

15. You know what's very frightening to me?
I really believe the posters there are firmly convinced they are right!

I only saw ONE who was reasonable and posted "unbridaled power in any President is bad, no matter what party!"

It scares me that there appear to be so many people who really believe it's OK to woretap, 'cause it's for our safety, or the one where someone posted "If Gore had managed to successfully steal the 2000 election...".

I don't think these people are crazy, I think they detested Clinton as much as we detest Bush! I have to admit, if Shrub was caught doin' a chippie in the oval office, I'D want him thrown out of office!!!! At the same time, I made excuses for BC...it's none of our business, if his wife is dealing with it, so should we, etc.

What has happened to make both sides litterally HATE each other! Look at the posts here on DU! I don't recall such pure hatered in the 70's & 80's. Sure there was dissent, and each Party disliked the others ideas, but it's different now. I lived through the change, but I have no idea what happened!!!!

21. I blame right-wing TV and radio.
Not just the regular corporate media doing their normal whoring, but the real hatemongers - Rush and Bill and Sean and Ann and countless others like them, feeding their lies to gullible people too ignorant and complacent to look elsewhere to confirm if what they're being fed bears any resemblance to the truth.

Ever hear that theory that if you keep repeating the same bullshit over and over that people will buy it and accept it as fact? I think that definately applies here.

25. What happened??
Rush "fucking" Limbaugh happened. And then every single cookie-cutter little local radio wing-nut neo-con came along to follow the model. Suddenly it was profitable to spend hours and hours each day calling honest, decent, capable and devoted men "scum-bags", or "communists", or "socialists", or "traitors".

Suddenly it became profitable to call loving, caring, talented and strong women "feminazis".

We did nothing because we were convinced that, surely, the American people would not fall for that type of disgusting debate.

We allowed them to turn our political discourse into the WWF. We tried to continue winning with kindness, reason, intelligent debate and compromise.

In the 70's and 80's you had a watchdog media that cared more about the truth than they did about profits. Today, we allow the media to "muddy" the truth with so-called "balance".

It's absurd. It's like saying to the media; "you can't say something bad about the Nazi's unless you have a pro-nazi on to give it balance".

Whenever we get back control of the government, and by "WE", I mean the "PEOPLE" not the Democratic Party", Rush and his like need to be dealt with like we dealt with Hitler's propagandist'.

20. Their knowledge of the Constitution and Law are astounding

"If this is true, I have to say that I agree - it is unconstitutional and needs to be stopped. There are very clear laws on the books to prevent this - it is not allowable without a warrant!"

WRONG...what the constitution protects US from it use of information in a criminal trial without a warrant to gather that info.

The administration is not going to court with the info gathered, or trying to prosecute with the info gathered, rather they are using the info to stop, or interfere with the process of foreign nationals who might be planning to bring harm and/or chaos to the the U.S. people or their properties.

I dunno ... seems pretty clear to me when I read it--nothing about the courts here, moran:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

23. The graphic of the praying hands/US flag must be their logo.
They are deeply irrational.

Mark Crispin Miller interview:
...It is that faith-based self-deception that makes the movement deeply frightening - and incomprehensible - to rational observers. There is no arguing with that mentality, which poses a far greater worldly threat than all the humanistic interests on Earth combined.

....Critics on the left, I think, are often prone to minimize the former, to read the entire crisis simply in economistic terms, and write the Christo-fascists off as mere fringe-dwellers whom the corporate powers are carefully manipulating. That critique is itself a rationalist projection, as such critics can't imagine, or won't accept, that irrational actors can wield power successfully, and for irrational reasons.

27. You know, I follow a link to freeperville about once a week and
I am always amazed at the lack of intelligence and maturity over there. EVERY thread I've seen there reads like it was written by a bunch of uninformed adolescents.

And I'm not even talking about the political content! Just the way they write and conduct themselves.

Hilarious, yet sick. Somehow. Only in freeperville...

Would you like BILL CLINTON listening in on all your phone conversations, reading all your e-mails, looking at your library check-outs, and monitoring the organizations you join?

Something tells me they would NOT care for that scenario. Might even think it's "imperial".
