Thanks for a most enjoyable afternoon |

I work for one of the more enlightened companies that honors Martin Luther King Day as a national holiday. Although I did not follow through on my original plan to go with friends to the DuSable Museum to check out the MLK all-day, all-the-time program, I got to do something equally as important: Thanks to those of you who were kind enough to post direct links to streaming video on C-SPAN, I was able to watch VP Gore's speech almost in its entirety (and if I want to listen again, which I do, you kind people have provided links to video and transcripts that I can relive the moment with again and again at my leisure). I don't have cable, so it was a real treat to be able to watch the presentation "live" on the Web.
Posting and reading to the threads that Proud Patriot kept going seamlessly throughout Gore's hour-long oratory, I was able to feel as if I was sharing this historic moment with many friends! The excitement was palpable and the quotes and the rapid-fire, almost real-time DU commentary made me feel like I was a part of something special. (My middle-aged fingers even made a few attempts at joining in the giddy reparte. It was great fun!)
And, as a result of Gore's most powerful presentation, I was compelled to take action and wrote a letter to Mr. Gore's office in Nashville to ask him to consider running again in 2008. He is the first person I have heard in a long time who addressed most of my concerns eloquently and succinctly. To my way of thinking, he would be a great president for the ailing country.
So, thank you to my friends at DU. Although I haven't done the dishes or cleaned the bathroom or run my errands I planned to do today, I can't think of a much better way to have spent my afternoon. This was truly a priceless experience.
God bless, AL

3. thank you too...i feel the same way..that today was historic... |
|
that no matter what the corporate media chooses to report..that no matter how the polls get freeped..today, my concerns were masterfully layed out in a speech by a previous vice president and rightful president....not in a political way...but clearly and heartfelt...plain spoken truth...fearless ...and im so grateful that finally someone has stood up and challenged the criminal administration...and challenged congress to do their job instead of what they've been doing...today was a landmark..much like cindy sheehan camping outside of bushs ranch...or america watching the incompetence of fema during katrina...anyone who turns their back on todays speech is a coward...and does not love america...
