Specter is nothing more than a hypocrite |
|
It was reported here on DU I believe last week that a group calling itself Republican Majority who is a group that opposes overturning Roe v Wade and they are pro-choice. Arlen Specter is a member of this group. When the group came out and said they were opposing Alito Specter was quick to say he was not a part of the meeting(s) when the group made their decision(s). We all know the reasoning why Bush is nominating Alito. Mostly for him it's because of his views on the president (in this case pResident) having total authority and not how the Constitution states and he can by pass laws etc. For public support it's because of his views on Roe v Wade and to appeal to the fundie voters to support him and make the republicans pass him through since now days the fundies pretty much control the republican party and their agenda. I'm listening right now to Stephanie Miller's show from earlier today on the last part of the first hour and she is playing a statement from Specter. He is saying he is supporting Alito and not because of party lines or loyalty and if he thought he shouldn't be on the bench that he would vote no but he is supporting him. So Specter is nothing more, once again, than a hypocrite. I hope this pro-choice group kicks him out of the group.

I read it in a story yesterday. He on their Advisory Committee: http://www.gopchoice.org/meet.asp#advisorybut not on the Board of Directors. I should have looked it up before posting.

At least you corrected yourself and showed the link. :) But him being on the group is big enough. One more reason not to trust Mr. Magic Bullet.

4. specter was threatened with losing his chairmanship |

back during the election. he is toe-ing the line. i am not surprised. otoh, bush knows that if he loses the roe issue, the repugs will probably lose the dictatorship, so he doesn't want this issue to go away yet. alito may consider roe settled law.
