Alabama, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Texas.

Gee, I wonder what those states rankings are in IQ's and scholastic rankings.

(Don't slam me, I'm proud to be an Alabamian just for the fact I make people's heads explode).

The rating in the 30's is National. These are specific states where he is above 50%.

28. But, they're entitled to this benefit. LOL
After their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough as they could not afford a larger bed.
So the husband went to his veterinarian and told him that he and his cousin didn't want to have any more children.
The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive.

"A less costly alternative," said the doctor, "is to go home, get a cherry bomb, (fireworks are legal in Alabama) light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to your ear and count to 10."

The Alabamian said to the doctor, "I may not be the smartest tool in the shed but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear; is going to help me."
"Trust me," said the doctor.
So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count...
"1"

"2"

"3"

"4"

"5"

At which point he paused, placed the beer can between his legs and resumed counting on his other hand ...................
This procedure also works in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Northern Florida, South Delaware, Mississippi, Missouri, West Virginia, Georgia and the Carolinas.

His national net approval rating is -23%. And of the five states with a positive net approval, only one is in double digits! Yet the DLC says a fifty-state strategy won't work?

27. margin of error is 4.1%: ID 55%, UT 52%, WY 52%, AL 51%, TX 51%

Thanks for the link, rocknation! In all but 1 of those cases, it's possible that Bush could actually be BELOW 50%.

Just to be kind to Georgie, since it's his birthday -- I suppose that Nebraska (48%) and North Dakota (46%) just might be higher, within the margin of error.

But I doubt it.

*SurveyUSA at www.survey usa.com finds in May that a majority of voters in only two states (Idaho and Utah) approve of the job President Bush is doing.

*SurveyUSA finds in June that a majority of voters in five states (Alabama, Idaho, Utah, Texas and Wyoming) approve of the job President Bush is doing.

34. I lived in Idaho and most Idahoans are borderline poverty in
the rural areas yet they keep voting in Republicans who legislate most of their rights and benefits away in favor of an elite few who own just about everything and most of the money. I don't get it, yet no matter how many facts you present to them that liberals really aren't the devil's spawn, they'd rather listen to some fat rich white guy telling them what's good for them is to vote for keeping the fat cats fat.

36. Bush's numbers always go up when he gets out and speaks. Really
We loathe him, but his speeches always tend to rally his base and bring them back into fantasy land and away from those pesky facts. Grrr, I hates them facts. The reason he keeps slipping is because he's just so damned lazy and really hates going out and speechifying. It taxes him and his handlers really sorta prefer to keep him under wraps as much as possible anyway. I still think the president has a ceiling of no more than 42% approval ratings, even if something spectacular happens like nabbing bin Laden. Unless some big "rally round the monkey" event comes on the news, he'll putter along at 40% or so.

40. I have a question about approval ratings:
Edited on Sat Jul-08-06 12:03 AM by Marr
How do they figure those? Is it an average of each state's approval rating, or an overall sampling?

I mean- they don't balance Utah's number against California's, do they...? It's not like the electoral system, is it?

Weighted Average 37% 61% -23%
('Weighted Average' means each state is weighted proportionally to its share of USA population. For example, California, the most populated state, is given 71 times the weight of WY the least populated state, in a weighted avg.)

Unweighted Average 39% 59% -21%
('Unweighted Average' means each state is given equal weight; population density is not taken into account).

600 adults age 18+ in each of the 50 states were interviewed by SurveyUSA...Click on each state to open a link which contains the margin of sampling error for each state, a complete statement of methodology, fully crosstabbed data and trendlines.
