CNN: "The Suicide Bomber Next Door, Could it be your neighbor?" |
|
CNN is devoting a night to homegrown terrorism. They have just revealed that a CIA program to track Bin Laden was scrapped, because homegrown terrorism is now more dangerous than he is.
My question is, are the American people the new enemy in the war on terror? Are we entering an age where neighbors accuse neighbors of being terrorist supporters? Will Cheney's 1% doctrine focus on locking up dissenters?
The war on terror is going in a dangerous direction.

1. What if your next-door neighbor really IS Osama bin Laden? |
|
Rumor has it that he works nights at a 7-11 in Des Moines. He could be YOUR NEIGHBOR!
CNN, you suck.

4. Didn't they do that in the red scare too? |
|
Not CNN, but their forbears. Your neighbor could be one of those Russian moles who practiced being American in those towns the Russians allegedly had set up - whole American towns. And they would "sleep" there until activated.
Some crap never changes.
Oh and if the middle eastern Islamic terrorists are no longer anything to worry about, I guess that means we can withdraw from Iraq now?

6. This is the direction they intended to take it from the beginning. |
|
The risible 'War on Terror' has, since its inception, been a war on Americans. Everything up to now has been done to prepare the ground for the next phase. That phase is now underway and when it's over, we will mistrust and fear our fellow citizens in ways scarcely imaginable. That will, in turn, make it much easier for the state to divide us from each other and eliminate the 'bad elements' and 'terrorists' who resist them.

7. I don't know where CNN is going with this, but I have always thought |

home grown terrorists are much more of a threat than al Qaeda or Saddam. Think about the ones we've had in the past. The unabomber, the guy who blew up the Ok. Fed building, those 2 nuts in Md. who drove around shooting seople just because they could, the person who mailed the anthrax letters (that we never caught!), all the serial killers over the years.
I realize none of them killed as many as died in the towers, but the odds of having more like them, and you & I actually encountering some is a lot greater...IMO!

My neighbor is a Federal employee. If she's a terrorist, somebody really needs to do a better job of screening job applicants.

13. I love the way your second sentence illustrates the switch. |

Forget the "because" clause, there should be a train wreck at the word "scrapped." Instead, it moves along smoothly and calmly to the "Neighbombers! Oh noes!!!" subject.
