Lieberman claims no one but "the local media" questions Iraq war support!
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 09:09 PM by Nothing Without Hope
Read this and more outrages from Holy Joe in this not-so-fair-and-balanced Newsweek report:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2712580
thread title (GD-Politics): Lieberman claims no one but "the local media" questions Iraq war support!

While giving two pages of supportive interviewing to Lieberman, Ned Lamont is given a few -- mostly loaded --questions at the end, like "Would pulling out of Iraq now vindicate the insurgents?"

Here's a direct quote from the Lieberman interview:
NEWSWEEK: Are you hearing concern from your constituents about your position on the war in Iraq?
Joe Lieberman: This will come as a surprise to you but the only people who have asked me about that are the local media.
Mostly people are talking about the economy.

Meanwhile, there is nonsense from the interviewer and from Lieberman about the "anger" of "liberal bloggers" and professed concern about how it is hurting our country...

Please check out the thread link above (in GD-P) and see what you think of this outrageous and biased Newsweek interview. And surely more than a few CT voters might want to call Joe on his blatant lie about no one but "the local media" questioning his continuing support of the Iraq War.

1. How Convenient...
What's the attraction to the argument that whenever anybody questions your point of view...
(a) they're attacking you, and, more importantly,
(b) they're somehow hurting the country or the party...

Whatever.

Heard this interview with Ken Dautrich, Professor of Public Policy, University of Connecticut, on NPR's "All Things Considered" this afternoon.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5539108

(snip)
Michelle Norris:"The war seems to be the biggest issue in Connecticut right now?"
Ken Dautrich: "Oh, absolutely. If it wasn't for Joe Lieberman's support of the war, it's unlikely that he would have any competition at all."

6. Just like his pal Dubya, real selective hearing.
Just those pesky focus groups. Maybe he needs to tour with George and listen to the people too.

7. Wish he'd pull his head outta' his buttocks.
He's too "hill", now, to freakin' get it. He is lost.

Frankly, everytime I see him, for whatever reason, his presence pulls me down. I can't explain it.

12. 'Local media' are much less likely to be owned by Intl. Corporations....
Perhaps that is why they are more likely to print THE TRUTH!

13. Maybe that's it - odd that no CT voters have expressed concern to Joe

over his support of the Iraq War all this time. :sarcasm:

Sure could tell the MSNBC/Newsweek interview was intended to promote Lieberman and marginalize Lamont, and who would want to do that without an ulterior motive?

14. If I were Lamont
I'd run with that remark. Joe is telling Connecticut that local news outlets are clearly in the wrong, thus, by extension, so are his constituents. What Joe's really saying is that he's out of touch with his state.

16. Thats because he doesnt talk with people who disagree with him.
The local media are asking because alot of people are asking, they just arent the people at his fundraisers.

17. Yes, I think you're right. He meant "the people who MATTER to me
don't ask about the Iraq War." he ignores everyone else, even though that's the majority.
