N. Korea missile aimed at area off Hawaii
This may be a DUPE but it's worth it.
These may be targeting the people we hold dear to us...including those who may protest the difference between the Clinton vs Bush administration.
Where can one draw a line? Does the * admin hold TOTAL responsibility?
I want to hold ALL Ass-hole Senators, Reps and Administration peeps accountable

1. It would take a damn accurate missle to hit one of those islands.

2. Not really
ICBMs on both sides have been that accurate since the 60s. But there was a lot of testing and early trial and error to get them there.

Its not clear that the NKs could build one that accurate at this point. I would also not be too sure that is where they were aming for. They have little practical experince in building guidance sections...

9. Yeah. I would consider an ICBM pretty accurate. Have the ruskies
been selling them to NK?

All they need is one - then they can reverse engineer it and start selling it to middle eastern countries.

4. Yeah, but could the missile have really gone that far? Is saying
that it's aimed at Hawaii sort of like supposing that I fart in the general direction of the White House (from Raleigh N.C.) and the S.S. comes to arrest me about an attempted chemical attack?

7. TD 2 has a theoretical range of the far Pacific Northwest
I say theoretical because it's pretty obvious the thing doesn't work very well.

5. What do you mean?
"...including those who may protest the difference between the Clinton vs Bush administration."

Are you saying there's no difference between Clinton and Bush vis-a-vis Korea?

Wasn't it during Clinton's time that the N Koreans stopped their missile and nuke programs? That Bush, right off, declared N Korea to be in the Axis of Evil, then ignored the place, abrogating the agreements Clinton forged with them, whereupon Korea decided to proceed and kicked the inspectors out? Of course, there have been no N Korean nuke tests, so we don't KNOW they have nukes now, but we have Bush's word on it.

And, BTW, do you think the N Korean's don't know that if they were to attack Hawaii the entire northern half of their peninsula would be turned into a very large slag-heap?

We are in no danger from N Korea. No more than we were from Saddam, or we are from Iran.

Not often the visiting pundits actually donate to DU.

8. Well, I thought it had been well established that even Madaline Albright
admitted both on Larry King and Meet The Press that North Korea had paused then continued their program for nuclear fuel secrectly, before * assumed the Presidency. (don't have a video or transcript link currently, but will try to locate). Wasn't the advanced missle technology "gathered" from China, who acquired from US scientist during 1998?
Bush certainly has made a masterful cluster-F__K of the issue by posturing so much after 9/11 with his whole "Axis of Evil" State of the Union, but that doesn't change the fact that N. Korea had already been covertly developing their program, while still accepting our tech and food aid, since Albright and Pres. Carter's negotiated agreement.

My point is I'm increasingly tired of the smoke and mirror or finger-pointing on both sides of the aisle, while the world seems to be spinning into madness.

10. No answer...I guess you agree that
blame can lie on both sides. Why not find a solution that doesn't involve a donkey or an elephant?

11. "A Japanese newspaper reported" something and quoted in
yahoo just isn't enough to make it true.
