Freeps Are Right. I Am A Good Example Of How Bad This Country Has Gotten. |

But, not for the reasons they think...
When the founding fathers wrote the Constitution, they has a bold and singular vision for a government, a set of checks and balances that played politician's inherent greed and lust for power against each other to prevent any one individual or group from gaining too much power or abusing what legit power they have. That elegant system was meant to be backed up by an aggressive press that would keep the voters well informed of what politicians were up to, who was doing their job and who was abusing it.
Sadly, with one party control of all three branches and a weak and frightened press, the defense of the freedoms that the founders saw as essential falls on average folks like you and me. That pisses me off.
Here I am working MY ass of to hold the massive and powerful American federal government accountable? WTF? Who the hell am I? How did this massively important job fall to me and others like you? That is not what the founders were shooting for.
Of course, they also understood that the system is only as good as the knowledge base of the voters and the people in the jobs. They understood taking to the streets (or the tea ships as the case may be) as average people to stand up to a power abuser. Jefferson famously wrote of the need for rebellion about every 20 years to keep the government honest and accountable. He wrote that after the whiskey rebellion in PA that occurred under Washington's presidency.
That revolt has been followed by many more, among them the woman suffrage movement and the civil rights movement of the 1960's.
Well, that was 40 plus years ago! Don't let Jefferson down!
He knew full well that powerful, elitist bastards would work against the interests of the people and that sometimes they would get the edge. However, he also had faith that the American people were both intelligent and independent enough to do what it took to keep those powerful elitists from succeeding in the long run.
At times such as these, we all have to do everything that we can to defend the principles set out by the founders, to defend the freedoms that they guaranteed as "inalienable rights", and to remind the bastards who owns this damn country.
People like you and I are a symptom of the greater disease. But, we are also the cure!
Never forget that!

....when things seem so hopeless.
I just fear these neocon/fundie idiots will find ever new ways to steal more elections. They know once we get in office we'll dig and dig until we find out who did what and then we will go after them like a rabid dog.

"The People are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty" -Thomas Jefferson
"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt......If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake." From a letter sent by Thomas Jefferson in 1798, after the passage of the Sedition Act
"Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government. Whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights." - Thomas Jefferson

5. You are 100% on the money with this DA. . . |
|
You and I and the rest of the "awakened Americans" have the weight of the world on our shoulders
We are holding up the whole ball of wax with one hand, screaming at the top of our voices and smacking faces, trying to wake up the rest of the country.
"America, Don't you know? We can't fight alone against the monster. . ."
pissed off? you bet!
