my Ah-HA! (DUH!!) moment in politics - follow the money
Hi all. Am I the last one to figure out that every issue comes down to money? Give the gays their rights and we have to pay them benefits. Women equality? We'd have to pay them eqaully as men. Illegal immigration? No, as Thom Hartmann and others point out, it's illegal employers who refuse to pay a fair wage to their workers.

They say it's about morals but if they were moral, they'd pay their fair share.

3. as a corollary of sorts, all wars are fought over resources
At their most basic level...all of them.

5. And people are willing to twist history to reach that conclusion.
I've noticed.

Wars are fought over a variety of reasons - many of them are over resources, but some of them are not (ore at least not to the same extent).

7. Here's another one
Universal health care has been blocked for years...why?...money. But now that it seems to be not a matter of if, but when, I believe stances on certain issues will soften among the monied folk. A ban on pulling the plug will never happen. Life support is too expensive. A ban on therapeutic abortion will never happen. Million dollar babies will be way too expensive. These are just a couple of examples, both of which I agree with. I think one should be permitted to end one's life with dignity, and I also believe that spending massive amounts of money on babies with severe defects who will only live a short while, often in pain, is vulgar when the money could go elsewhere (I am not looking for a fight with this last one, please. This is my view on this issue and I know it's controversial).

I'm sure there are more things determined by $, these are just two I have thought about over time.
