if you would only listen...

You've been missing Randi, Al and Sam all calling Big Pharma out day after day. Especially as regards the attempt to kill Social Security and the way they fund Congresslobbyists.

You miss it all because you jump to a conclusion.

Stupid Glenn Beck burned up the radio budget for his stupid Headline News show advertising on AAR and I Laughed!!! I'm glad that redneck wingnut wasted money and put it into AAR's pocket!!! Now his show tanked and he gave money to Air America! HAHAHAHAHHH!!!

I keep the google ads on here at DU, and click on them at every opportunity I have to help support the cause...

Reminds me of the movie "A Christmas Story" about the little boy who gets a decoder ring and can't wait to break the code and when he figures it out the code said.....

"Be sure to drink your Ovaltine"

Edited on Fri Jul-07-06 03:45 PM by Gabi Hayes
they ALWAYS break at 28 and 58 minutes after the hour

always

for 6 minutes at the 28 break, and 8 at the 58 break

there's a four minute break somewhere in bewteen, during each half hour

I sit here listening online with a little timer, and I set it for the time of the break; as a result, almost never listen to commercials, or the canned newsbreaks

35. I finally figured out the break schedule too.
What I want to know is, when I turn on my AAR station at a random time, why does it always turn out to be either 28 or 58 minutes past the hour right then?

Even the 5-minute top-of-the-hour news report has 2 or 3 commercial breaks in it. Sheesh.

I too have had to turn off the teeth-grinding commercial. Although the ones where the kids try to rouse their friends with jackhammers etc. are pretty bad too. And I don't really care for "Ew! It stinks in here!" either. That one comes and goes.

The funny thing is, I do kind of like the Geico ads, and end up memorizing them without meaning to.

43. If you ever listen to podcasts from the White Rose archives...
that commercial break schedule becomes real apparent real fast. You know not to bother turning it back on until (frinstance) six after the top of the hour.

That said, why, WE LOVE THE AAR ADVERTISERS! THEY'RE the BEST!

Even the AVACORE cough snake-oil cough Hair Tonic!

26. This is how I feel about The Daily Show and Colbert Report
We've been staying at my mothers awhile she recovers from surgery and for the first time, have gotten Comedy Central. I love the above two shows, but some of the commericals make me cringe. And it seems like they show each Girls Gone Wild and "male enhancement" at least once during each episode. The GGW ones are especially vile.

Honestly, Ovaltine sounds great in comparison.

Go out and get one of those little iPod shuffles. Subscribe to AAR podcasts (it's $60 a year unlimited, less if you pick and choose shows). It's a few hours late, but you don't miss anything but the commercials.

Here's what I get ..."oh' yeah. Here's another one 'We have no evidence Saddam Hussein had anything to do with September 11th'...c'mon. The Presidents a liar. Give me something hard here. Seventeen ahftah" Guitar-drums-"You're listening to Randi Rhodes, on Air America Radio!" 38. The commercial touting the investment method was the last straw for me.
I can handle the ads for legitimate products or services such as Olvaltine and Terminex. However, I hate ads for gimmicks such as invention marketing and get-rich-quick schemes. For me, the most appalling ad was the one for some type of investment method. The most disgusting part of that wretched ad was a quick "testimonial" which was ostensibly from a successful subscriber to the method. The testimonial consisted of a female voice-over which went something like "It's the easiest way there is to get rich." The voice sounded like that of an unintelligent bratty young girl who spoke too fast and enunciated poorly. After finding myself muting the streaming audio whenever the commercial came on, I decided to quit Air-America altogether.

I just try to ignore them , they should at least just put them at the half hour point and let the show go longer inbetween .

The ones during Malloy's show are the worst . They make radio possible so I suffer to hear the shows .

42. They can't have just 2 breaks per hour
Otherwise they'd be about 9-10 minutes long. Each hour has about 19 minutes of commercials, and 3 minutes of news, with the remainder reserved for the show.

I think Air America should do what Jones Radio network does and have 5 show segments per hour instead of 4; that way, each commercial break isn't as long.

Otherwise, just follow the http://www.thomhartmann.com/thomshow.pdf">program clock (with hard breaks at :28 and :58 past the hour, and floating breaks at around :16 and :46 past the hour). That way you'll know when to mute the commercials, and when to unmute it when the show comes back.

All of commercial talk radio has a lot of breaks, not just Air America.
