Lay dead. "CHECK THE COFFIN" a broadcaster just said on CNN...
She was quoting an online blog and implied the idea of him hoaxing death is idiotic. She went on to criticize online political writing in general. Keep up the good work. Someone hit a nerve. If they did open the blackest of boxes; I'd say, "how about a DNA test?"

What is FAR more interesting is that the bite followed a story about the government not being able to attach Lays' assets, now that he is dead and no longer considered guilty. I've certainly seen the government attach the ill-gotten gains of run-of-the-mill dead convicted criminals, in the past. What's the difference?

BTW, I want to go on record right now,
as saying, drive a stake through the heart,
even if they appear dead!

1. The difference is
that he did not exhaust his appeals before he died.

4. Nope. It is that he was not sentenced.
And in THAT appeals circuit, and ONLY that one, the precedent is that if you die before sentencing your guilty verdict is vacated.

17. Correct. In that appeals jurisdiction.
Which is more than one court, but appeals precedent applies only there. To become a national precedent it would have to go to the Supreme Court on a challenge.

16. In NYS if you die before sentencing
It is considered abated by death and not a conviction.

Sorry, I've been away and out of the loop, but what does this mean for his widow? Who benefits from this? Obviously not Kenny boy, unless he faked his death.

If we can put Zarqawi's head on TV, we damn well ought to be able to tell if the nation's biggest swindler has checked out.
