My short take on Gore's speech... |
|
I'm just sayin'....
sounded to me like (implying) a call for impeachment - so many times i heard the phrases 'violation of law' and 'violation of constitutional rights' which are the main grounds to call for impeachment, right?
also, i felt throughout the entire speech all of his references to the fact that only the 'governed' can make it better - especially towards the end of his speech - like he was hinting at somewhat of a revolution. i feet truly inspired to revolt! :bounce:
but maybe that's just me

18. Yep. He tried to go beyond a frustrated "Call for Impeachment"... |
|
to a demand for the real steps that proceed an ACTUAL impeachment.

So many references to violations of the constitution, endangering our democracy, not revealing the truth, withholding information, etc. It sounded so like a call for impeachment! And Hillary's comments about the Bush administration today seemed to be supporting what Gore said.
Let it be!

10. It's not about impeachment... |
|
It's about a President who broke the law.... who contunues to break the law and who intends to keep breaking the law.
That's the issue that both republicans and democrats must address... impeachment may come... punishments may be doled out... but first we have to STOP THE CRIMES BEING COMMITTED BY BUSH RIGHT NOW !!!

I had to watch it again to make sure I didn't dream it. It was a great speech and he did dance around the "I" word.

13. It was a clear call to save our Democracy... |
|
What is unclear about "Constitutional crisis"? He is calling for actions from we the people. I was stunned by his idea to bring Fitzgerald to the cause and yes, of course he was calling for the beginning phases of impeachment to begin. My tears were shed not only for the support of someone in power to present our fears, but also a fear that we only have so much time left to stop this atrocity before it gets too powerful to stop. The clarion call was given to our party for Oppositional force and we must demand it at any cost. If it does not present, then yes, he was reminding us that this Nation is ours. We the people decide the course of our Democracy and a revolution must occur if the Needs of our citizens continue to not be met.

17. That's how the remarks came across to me, too. |
|
Perhaps a massive group of people marching up to Capitol Hill to demand changes? But then, are there enough gulag cages to hold us all?
I'm thinking he was calling for us all -- in both parties -- to put pressure on our congresspeople to do something about this corrupt presidency. It's going to take some defections from the Republican congresspeople, though, to get the ball rolling. Democrats can't do it alone.
